Smiley DJ Monster Massive afterthoughts!

Got home at about 5 this morning and I don't know why the hell I'm up this early a mere 4 hours later. MM was definately a very sick show, and like I said, it was my girlfriend's first rave and she enjoyed it very much. We got there right at 8:30 and watched DJ Reza, he spun some good tracks. Judge Jules spun an excellent nonstop dance set and I was very very pleased. That was in the Tomb of Doom. When we were out in House of Horror, we couldn't help but dance our asses off for Junior Jack and Kid Creme, they are fucking amazing! And like always, LOVED to see Paul Van Dyk again, we danced soo hard last night.

Anyways, time for me to sleep until about 2 today and then I'm leaving for Santa Barbara this afternoon for Halloween, so SVGmethod (Curly), PM me your phone number and we'll meet up dude! I don't know where you live in SB but I'll be at IV in Santa Barbara tonight, so let me know.

Damn...last night was insane...my first rave.

I was roaming most of the night dancing in different places, i was with a buddy Jason, (forgot screen name), but we were just hopping from room to room dancing and drinking mad beer.

But we stuck mainly to the main arena when Pete Tong came on, i thought he spun a good set, but my highlights was Judge Jules (never seen/heard him before) then Edgar V then of course PvD.

PvD's opening tracks just started to bring the house down, it was so badass. I left at 4 (non day light savings time) because i was tired as hell, my feel were swelling from all the dancing, and i thought it was ending anyways. But when i got back to the car a half hour later, music was still going, so...who knows.

Badass night overrall.

i stayed the ENTIRE night it was so fucking cool...i feel a little bad that i missed the meet up. but pete tong started at 10 and i didn't wanna miss him . PVD definetly did it for me. i was exhausted by the time he came on, but lo and behold his music gave me the engery i needed to survive!

these are the tracks you guys are talking about

pvd - for an angel (pvd 2004 rmx)
rank 1 - breathing (breaks dub) <- i forget who remixed it but my friend has the vinyl

and oh shit pete tong tore it down...he was one of the main reasons i came...always wanted to see him

tracks from tong:
deepdish - flashdance
eric prydz - call on me
sander k - the fruit
and he kept sampling Mylo - Drop the Pressure

Posted by bas on Oct-31-2004 20:49:

oh yeah he also played: Pete Tong & Steve Mac - The Final Calling <-love that tune

damn i wish i had gone now, my night was absolute shit cause i stayed here to support vegas' small ass scene.

Last night was such a badass time. I didn't make it for the meet up either, didn't get in until close to 11, but oh well it was still an amazing time. Pete Tong was cool, Judge Jules & PvD had me dancing nonstop... too bad PvD didn't actually play to 4am PDT, then we coulda had a 3hr set! Meeting PvD afterwards and getting him to sign my ticket (didn't bring anything else) pretty much made the night for me. I can't wait for the next event like this one....

All in all a damn good night....

I'm so pissed at myself for not trying to arange a meet up with some of you guys, although I might very well have met some of you and not known it. I'm easy to spot too... Tall white guy with a Cat in the Hat hat. Oh well, it is great to hear that all of you had as good a time as I did. During DJ Reza's set around the middle he played a track that Oakenfold played for his closing number at Noctournal this year, I can't identify it for the life of me, but it almost saved Oakenfold's set (which imho was soso) and I totally loved it in Reza's. Hard to describe, mostly non-instrumental, more of kinda waterdrop sounds i guess... (and I'm aware that this could be posted in the unidentified tracks page, but I figure most of the people posting here will have heard it.)

yeah, i heard Behrouz (sp) somewhere...cant remember the room, but i know when i was done listening to his set, i went upstairs to the top of the escalators, and found out it was him i was listening to, pretty sweet.

*sigh*

just got back from freaknight and monster massive. i dont have the patience right now to read all through all of the reviews, so ill post my version

monster massive:
incredible. they don't call it monster massive for nothing. that mainstage was nothing short of massive. but, waaaaaay too many e-puddles. i'm all for you people having a good time and getting your roll on, but please leave some room for us to dance. i spent most of my time at the house stage. JJ and KC, incredible! coming from chicago, that house sound was exactly what i was looking for. the vibe out there was so much better too. i think i only spotted 2 or 3 e-puddles in the middle of the floor, everyone else was up and dancing. closed the night out with PvD, great energy to begin with, then i just got floored. spent the last hour in the balconies and watched everything from above. almost fell asleep at one point. costume of the night, about 200 bumble bees haha

freaknight:
there needed to be more places to pregame around the field. we walked around forever before we found a place to eat. then ended up at the only bar that looked like it had any people in it, Cowgirls saloon. hot girls there, but they were all bartenders
lines and security to get into freaknight were great. MrS sent me a text around 930 and said the line was really long. we walked to the field around 1030 and were in by 1045. after about 5 absolut redbulls and one jaegerbomb at cowgirls, that one budlight did it for me. met up with phlotron and fellow chicago TA MrS in time for WOW. WOW was good, ferry rocked it (though too short), BT was waaaay too packed, marco was good but too hard for my tastes, and nu-nrg was ok (was expecting more uplifting).
yeah, lots of candy kids, but i expected that. every time i tried to dance, someone stepped up and tried to "battle" me. so i just stepped to the side and said "you win, i just want to dance"
o, and costume of the night, about 200 schoolgirls haha

Highlight of the weekend: Junior Jack and Kid Creme at House of Horror at Monster Massive

i can't believe no one remembers PVD playing:

second sun - love simulator

i think that was the last track he played, it sounded almost similar to summer dream, then i remembered it from his nature one set...he played this song before summer dream...

i was kinda bummed that he didn't play randy katana - in silence, comsic gate - bilingual, or robert gitelman - children of the sun...but he made up for all of that with his new remix of "for an angel"....that tune was absolutely bangin!!!

Posted by liquidmist2001 on Nov-01-2004 00:25:

and also, if i remember correctly i heard pvd playing....

love fist - hangin' on a string (e-craig remix)
paul van dyk - reflections or buenaventura (reflections vinyl mixes)

i am so glad that he didn't play crush, or wir sind wir, i think that would've entirely killed my night...

Exactly man. Like I said, JJ&KC was the best time of the night for me, unbelieveable set. The very first rave I ever went to was Kid Creme and DJ Irene, and KC was the very first DJ I ever saw spin. Since that day, house has always been on top for me.

Posted by OurManFlint on Nov-01-2004 01:32:

So what was the full PVD tracklist?

Ahhh I was waiting for crush

Posted by Trancer85 on Nov-01-2004 03:53:

I was too into Roger's set and i didn't have much chance to watch pvd. i only heard about 10 minutes of his set, and i switched back to roger, cause he tore shit up! Gotta love the man's mixing, it will make you dance non-stop.

i also loved kid creme's set and pete tong was just okay and not all i expected. come to think of it i stayed most of my night at the house area.

don't get me wrong, i love the song, but man was it overplayed everywhere....top quality tune from PVD, but shit man, he had me by the balls when he played his new mix of "for an angel" i was sitting in one of the e-puddles, and i heard that song, and i ran back into the crowd to find my buddies, and started rockin' out...total ch00n!!!

Posted by wushuboy on Nov-01-2004 07:13:

i dont think pvd played love simulator..he did however play second sun - the spell (deutchmann remix)

The new remix of For an Angel isnt a pvd remix but it's the Marc Van Linden remix.

Here are some songs i remember from PvD's set

Marcos - Cosmic String (marc van linden remix)
pvd - for an angel (marc van linden remix)
second sun - the spell (deutchmann remix)
pvd - buenaventura
josh gabriel - alive
reflekt - need to be loved
active sight - out of our lives
J Danjo & Rob Styles - Duende
kyau vs albert - made of sun
sam sharp - deep

Posted by bas on Nov-01-2004 07:21:

reflekt!!! thats what it was...i couldn't remember the name of that song, phew. if im correct there's also a housier/proggier version out there too right?
