do you think this is cool for your friend when you're telling this to everyone? I think he told this to you because he trusted to you that you keep this for you. Maybe he will lose his job now. However the club owner is stupid if he pays that much

btw Tiesto got more than GBP 250000 for every night of his concert

If it's true then it's a scandal but imo it sounds like a load of gash.

haha.. As the most popular Dj in the world, you would probably have to pay him some serious cash if would consider playing somewhere in the first place. You go where they pay you the most - pretty natural if u ask me.

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Nov-18-2004 14:50:

What's the big deal? It's just money, and the club wouldn't do it if they didn't think they had something to gain by it, so don't worry about what other people are getting paid.

I swear, some of you are like little kids jealous of your siblings' allowance.

Posted by Laushinameee on Nov-18-2004 15:19:

I wouldnt be surprised if it was true - tbh I find it disconcerting the amount some of these djs get. I hate the fact they make out they're DJs simply for the love of the music when they go out and act like divas when they dont get exactly what they've asked for. I've heard PvD got like £40,000 or something ridiculous for one of his 6 hour sets at Gatecrasher a while back...

However i would rather the dj got a shitload of money rather than the promoter - I find them even more irritating.

Sounds like a load of bóllocks to me - how could they possibly justify paying anyone that money - it doesn't make any financial sense! I've never been to the club but it would have to be pretty big to even break even - say it has 2000 capacity they need to sell out at £20 a ticket to cover Tiesto's fee. I guess if people are prepared to pay stupid money to see Tiesto for 2 hours more fool them

Exactly, I am a promotor and we paid PVD around that figure for a whole tour of Mexico.

and yeh it is true.he didnt make it up.he gets to meet all the djs backstage and stuff and knows the owner very well.its true.believe it or not.its up to you

Posted by Laushinameee on Nov-18-2004 16:18:

who gives a shit who his mate is telling? I bet the promoter doesnt even give a shit - its tiestos fee, so he should be the one embarrassed for asking for such a digusting figure when there are children starving in the fucking world and tiesto wipes his arse with gold plated toilet roll.

As much as these DJs make, it pales in comparison to the amount talentless American pop stars make.

It gets the club publicity. SOme people may travel there just because Tiesto is on, like the club, and go there more often. That's the only reason I can fathom anyway.

$30 per ticket X 2000 clubbers = $60,0000

$10 avg. bar tab/per person X 2000 clubbers = $20,000

------------------------------------------------------------
Total = $80,000

50% of proceeds to talentless wonder DJ ( $40,000)

50% of proceeds to club ( $40,000)

Crunch the numbers and the club makes out in more ways than one.

Posted by Nell on Nov-18-2004 17:01:

you could still fill a 2000 capacity without inviting tiesto. my local bar hold 1500, and we probably have over 2500 customers a night. do we have a DJ, no.

£, not $

£30 for entrance to a club takes the piss... you'd be hard pushed to get 2000 clubbers in for a 2 hour tiesto set at that price.

exactly, i'd pay that for 9 hours at godskitchen, but not to see tiesto for 2 hours.

I suppose you live in a hut and give all your earnings to starving Africans? Hypocrite.

You would be suprised to see how much people would pay for bullshit hype.

Paul van Dyk charged $5o for his Central Park bullshit.

Tiesto charged $40 for his careless performance @ Vision in Chicago.

Do you want me to keep naming DJ's ???

In my experience the higher the price the more the bullshit.

... what about footballers that paid 80,000 quid just for one game of football a week? Or popstars as well.... Tiesto isnt the only one

Posted by Steven Hays on Nov-18-2004 17:17:

Here's how I look at it:

Are the promoters stupid for paying that much, or are the consumers the dumber ones for buying the tickets? MUSIC IS BUSINESS people. If you have dumbass ravers and clubgoers who will spend that much to see him then I don't blame the industry for jacking up prices.

People really need to look at the business standpoint of things and stop bitching about eithical prices and selling out. Stupid thread again.

no shit? just because other people do it, it doesn't make it right.

however what the guy above me says is very true, unfortunately.
