What do you mean by "older" and "newer"? Like what years do the "older" and "newer" labels encompass?

older is early 80s to about 91ish with Depeche Mode's Violater. The newer stuff is about 95 to present.

The older is the classic 80s stuff.. the newer is whats popular in today's goth/indsutrial scene (a lot of it makes for excellent male vocal trance). Also, check out Endanger and Namnambulu.

Also, if you're interested in Synthpop... check out music from the 80s Italo Disco scene. Artists like Den Harrow, Eddy Huntington, Roy (so many others) are all very much synth pop.

actually, european synth pop is tied closer to the classic sounds put out by old golden era of labels such as ZYX, BLANCO Y NEGRO, Hansa, Baby, etc etc.
