Goddamn, I hate Planeta.

I might be able to make it to this one.

The staff and patrons aren't down with trance music.

Ha, Can't be worse than club barcode in Downtown Houston

The actual club was not that terrible, in my opinion. Besides from the poor layout for DJ watching. Mainly the experience of getting INTO the club was what put me off so much, leaving a residual layer of irritation. I didn't like waiting outside so the VIP valet parking people felt special to have a line to cut, especially having a pre-paid ticket in hand.

The people inside were your standard club-goers, and the bar service was fine.

tickets are on sale yet, are they.

Good description. A basement with poorly placed couches & railings. Basements can feel properly "underground", but Planeta is just dim.

Despite my Planeta-whining, hope triumphs over experience. I'll try to go to this show, cause it would be unique to see Jes live.

Didn't like the layout at all and the night I went, the shady promoters shafted me and another performer out of the compensation they promised. I will never attend a show there and if I was ever asked to play there again I'd have to recieve full payment in advance.

Being a victim of the shaft myself, I feel your pain. But life goes on. Hopefully the party the next day was better?

Best house party I've ever been to

Nah bro, with the exception of said promoters I actually hold the san antonio scene in much higher esteem than the Houston crowd. Granted, I do have friends herebut it seemed like the crowd there (at Planeta and Krystal's party) was alot more receptive to the type of sound I was playing. I'm not too down about not getting paid because I was going to make the trip to san antonio anyway for Krystal's party..but I did have to take that friday night of of work and I was promised compensation. The lesson I learned is that verbal agreements don't mean shit anymore..which is kinda sad because I have always been a man of my word. Ah well.

If travel expenses and taking off work weren't an issue, I would gladly come and play in San Antonio more often. Must be nice only being only an hour away from Austin also.

Bad ASS I just might be Going to this here event It is going to be Gabriel and Dresden??? If So I am sold!! I want to get Gabriel and Dresden - Accadia <--- I want that on vinyl!!!!!!!!!!

Thats why you have to refuse to go on until you get the $$$$. If they don't come up with the $$$ then go home and let them have their event ruined.

That would work if I lived in San Antonio and home was only 5-10 minutes away..

there isn't much bad about the club it's actually pretty cool with all the flowing water and shit.. the people throwing the party are probably the most trustworthy of all promoters in SA..

I didn't like how they do hold the door to form a line just to make the club seem packed .. or that it will be a busy night... that pissed people off and they started to leave at the Oakenfold show..

the security are pretty much assholes like any other club... i have been there ALOT as behind the scenes and an investor in shows there and they knew who i was and still treated me like shit..
I'll probably be at that party just cause i like the people throwing it..

Unless a friend/fellow DCS dj is playing OR if it's a headliner that I REALLY like (ex. Donald Glaude), I REFUSE to set foot in that place. Before the Acosta show (I went because the local support was on point), I hadn't been to Planeta in over a year. I actually left when Acosta got on....lol. I wanted to go see Donald Glaude back in March, but I was outta town.

Posted by tmft on Jan-05-2005 04:57:

I really wonder how Planeta stays in business...niceguyent is the only guy to say vaguely nice things about it. If they rip off the DJs, treat the investors poorly, & are even ruder to the patrons...who still goes on a regular basis???

That said, I'm going on the 28th, cause it is...Gabriel & Dresden. So more fool me....I'll bring a book to read in the fake line.

JustJoe, Glaude is playing in Austin on the 29th, you should come up for that.

this is not correct - i don't know about deepsky, but i can def tell you that josh and i will not be there, nor were we booked to play.

"motorcycle live" usually means that only jes performs. this gets more confusing since both us and deepsky have done tracks with jes.

i will find out what the story is and post again.

sorry to those who were mis-informed and who made plans to come see josh and i.
