That's pretty cool. Toronto's skyline is pretty weak and hasn't had an significant additions in quite a while. The BMO Tower is looking pretty damn old if you look close.

prepare for a barrage of pessimistic remarks!

Wow, this is awesome.

I love architecture.

That rendition of the 2010 skyline looks hot.

Such amb_itious construction projects are usually good indicators of where the economy is headed... Ground continues to be broken over the past few years.

Great post!

wow....some of them towers are cool

lol Kaz...honestly...u think any of those buildings can touch everyday architecture in UAE? (i think i know ur answer already)

Those are some great renditions.

The projected population of the Concord Cityplace towers by Skydome and the CN Tower is 50,000!!!! I find that totally amazing, 50,000 people living basically on one city corner!!!

Then again shiny objects keep me enraptured for hours on end as well.

Posted by ShadoWolf on Jan-06-2005 15:15:

1/3 of those will actually be built, at best.

Weak? Compare the skyline to most american cities. It's not weak at all.

Yes it's not weak, I look forward to seeing it over the next 10 years. However if all things go according to plan I should have a tiny villa on some Greek isle to call home by then =] ahh one can dream.

Posted by Jayx1 on Jan-06-2005 15:22:

Im all for the addition of condos downtown. It will ensure that downtown does not become a ghostland surrounded by populated suburbs like what has happened to the US. However, the people moving in have to remember that they are living in a city and not a residential suburban cul de sac and adjust accrodingly. There will be city noise happening daily and nightly and people who move downtown shouldnt have the right to complain about that.

I can start right in our own country of skylines I think are better, Calgary, Montreal to name two. I've seen plenty, it's no world class skyline. If it were not for the 3 or 4 bank towers, it wouldn't be anything at all. It could use some updating.

fuck, this is the time to get into specialized trade like masonry.

apperently there are not enough trade people and they make tons of cash.

Well, considering the fact that they can spend what ever they want in UAE. Toronto & UAE should not be compared. Some of the stuff they are doing in Dubai is ridiculous! Its definitely cool! but its not practical.

Well everything is actually being built due to demand from foreign investors, just as a small example The Dubai Business Bay which includes 100 towers all sold out in a week!
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=159152

The exponential population increase (10% a year) in Dubai requires new buidlings for the new residents:
http://skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=117250
^^ It's still awe inspiring holding pgdn though.. (all approved and under constrcution!) By 2010 Dubai is going to be 4x the amount of buildings in all of Manhattan!

Posted by Funkyfun on Jan-06-2005 18:56:

Some really nice lookin buildings in there....I do agree with the notion abt TO skyline needing some major tweaks....Nothing substantial has been done to improve it over the last few yrs......

If ppl keep at it, maybe in another 20 yrs T dot skyline will come close to Dubai's...but thats a long shot though

Posted by St_Andrew on Jan-06-2005 18:57:

wow hope as much as possible get built of that
