Mini Mac for $499 USD. F&*CKING AMAZING !

Apple releases a cheap MAC for a low price of $499 USD. The most amazing thing is the size of that computer - it's as small as a toaster, yet contains a cd-rom, 40gb hard drive, ethernet card, modem etc.. Fuckin' AMAZING !

Full Story.

Apple also unveiled a cheap flash based version of iPod(1GB capacity) for $149 USD

All I can say is BRAVO !

seen the spex available for that mini-mac. great engineering, but cruddy spex... needs a bigger hard-drive and a faster cpu and more ram for me at least.

I'd be interested in the 1 GB iPod tho!!!

for an entry level machine the spec is more than adequate and certainly better than some of the pc's offered at that price

Fuckn i WISH i had a mac... if i had more money (and could afford to buy my progs not illegally "acquire" them via shades means) id be all over macs

fuckn LOVE their interface... and so stylish!

This is very entry level.

VERY.

This is the sort of thing aimed at families who just want to do word processing or surf the web for midget hermaphrodite porn or whatever.

As for the new iPod Shuffle, I think they're pretty kickin' rad. No LCD screen though. $129 CDN for the 512MB version, and probably $179 or $189 for the 1GB, so not bad.

I'll stick with my PC and my 3rd-gen iPod though.

i would rather take the toaster.

I'll be laughing when I replace my dead 15GB HDD with an 80GB, and you're stuck with 1GB max.

That machine looks amazing, man Apple knows how to design incredible "things"...I'm really interested in getting a powerbook while i'm at school cause then I'll get it cheaper but still contemplating because it's still $$$...either way design wise noone comes close, and that little thing is SEXI!

Apple & Leading Car Companies Team Up to Deliver iPod Integration in 2005
Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Alfa Romeo & Ferrari Announce Integrated iPod Car Stereo Solutions

MACWORLD EXPO, SAN FRANCISCOJanuary 11, 2005 Apple today announced it has teamed up with Mercedes-Benz USA, Volvo, Nissan, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari to deliver iPod integration with their car stereo systems in 2005. The iPod Integration Kit for Mercedes-Benz will debut this April in the US with the newly redesigned 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class, and Volvo will offer two iPod connectivity options for their entire 2005 US model line. Nissan, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari will announce details of their iPod integration solutions later this year, allowing customers to enjoy high-quality sound through their cars stereo system, easily access their entire music library and control their iPod using their cars standard controls. These companies join BMW and MINI Cooper who began providing integrated iPod solutions in 2004.

Almost every car company in the world is working to integrate iPod into their cars in 2005, said Philip Schiller, Apples senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. iPod customers want to take their entire music collection with them everywhere they go, including their car, so were excited to be able to work with so many leading automotive companies to provide customers with integrated solutions.

iPod is the worlds most popular family of digital music players and the best way for Mac or PC users to listen to music at home, on-the-go and in the car. Apple is working with leaders in the automotive industry to provide the best experience through car stereo systems, as the automobile is a perfect place for iPod users to listen to their music.

The iPod Integration Kit for Mercedes-Benz will debut this April in the US with the newly redesigned 2006 Mercedes-Benz M-Class, and for most other 2005 and 2006 models later this year. Mercedes-Benz is the first automaker to provide full iPod music navigation for drivers to listen to their entire iPod music collection through the Mercedes-Benz audio system, as well as select their music using artist, album or playlist with the multifunction controls on the steering wheel and the integrated multifunction display on their instrument cluster.

Volvos two iPod connectivity options for their entire 2005 US model line allow iPod users to listen to their entire music collection through their Volvo audio system. The Volvo iPod Adapter will be available for S60, S80 and V70/XC70 models and will connect by simply plugging the iPod into a cable located in the cars glove compartment, while S40, V50 and XC90 owners can use a dashboard mounted FM transmitter. The Volvo iPod Adapter allows users to control their music through their Volvo sound system and steering wheel controls, and both options charge the iPod when plugged in.

Additional details on model availability, features and pricing will be provided by Nissan, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari at time of availability.

Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with the Macintosh. Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning desktop and notebook computers, OS X operating system, and iLife and professional applications. Apple is also spearheading the digital music revolution with its iPod portable music players and iTunes online music store.

I really want the ipod photo !! The ipod shuffle is good for people who dont have too much music though, nice.

I already have the 3rd gen 40 gig, and my battery life is down to 2 hours... I guess I use it too much !!

Posted by starsearcher on Jan-12-2005 15:46:

iPod photo is sweet but if they added an actual camera to it, it would have been SUPERB!!!!

Other than that though it's a wicked little machine with extended battery life now to 12 hours is it?...and 80 gigs...I can't even imagine 80 gigs lol...my laptop has 60 and it's half empty lol

Either way in terms of design and creativity nobody compares...I'm really loving that iLife suite with all the cool applications in it

iPod is nice.. but here is the kind of device that I'm looking for(quoted from my blog)

quote:

Cell phones are getting better. Some cell phones even have built in digital cameras. However I believe there is still lots and lots of room for progress.

I still haven't bought a cell phone, but I will as soon as all of the following are integrated into it: Digital Camera(with GOOD quality), Video Camera, TV, Personal Computer, Wireless Internet Connectivity EVERYWHERE (even in the forest or Alaska) and GPS. That cell phone should also support attachments such as a Monitor, CD/DVD Rom, Keyboard, Printer etc.

Now wouldn't that be a great cell phone ? And the cool thing is that we are very likely to see that kind of cell phone within the next 5 years.
