State of Matter - Azure Symphony (2005 Rework) FINALLY

It took me a lot longer to sit down and do this than I thought it would, but when I finally did it all went pretty smoothly. This is a remake of probably my second most popular song next to Radiance. The original was the first track I posted on TA, and originally it was an As The Rush Comes remix. Anyways, I've finally redone it. This is my most emotional piece to date and I really hope you like it. Sapphire is next.

State of Matter - Azure Symphony

Any and all comments welcome, help me polish this up.

did i beat Luke ?

i'll be first!

The kick is very nice here, at least on headphones.

I remember this , yes i liked it allot as well.

your perc does sound weak in the beginning.

That bass note that gets pitched down, sounds a bit to loud i think.

what a nice braak, piano is good.

seems the main part those supersaws eat allot of space. And the perc does sound weak, i think you muted some things hehe.

Anyway hope that helped.

listening..

nice bass drop.. fits perfectly.. nice piano.. nice melody..good sounding pads.. more percussions after the break.. cant hear any clap.. just some small hats can be heared... needs much more power.. everything is fine except the percs..

relaxing melodies really enjoyed the melody. The percs are a little bit weak though. Keep up the work state of matter.

peace,

Jay

Thanks for the feedback thus far. I don't think I'm gonna beef up the percs, its just a taste thing. If you listen to the original on my old site (http://www.musicv2.com/artist/stateofmatter/) you'll notice that its intentional. I opted for very minimal percs and bass so that your attention would be focused on the melody. Meant to be a slow, somber, reflective piece. I really appreciate the comments though, and Im glad that everyone for the most part likes it.

be careful with bassdrop... the frequencies collide with the bass pad (just don't have the bass pad play for the first couple bars)

i don't like like the kick build in the end of the breakdown

piano fits well, CORRECT

i smell signage

This sounds classy man. Great pads, great synths. But once again I think the piano is out of tune. Honestly every song i hear with a piano it sounds out of tune. Very nice violin/strings section. As a matter of taste, instead of the kick on 1&3 and the hats i would have done a little half tempo epic drum loop type thing if that makes sense. something kinda triphop-esque.

anyway sounds great. send me a copy of the vinyl

Sample updated. Couple of subtle effects added, raised clap volume and made the percs slightly more driving. Now they're more where I want them to be. Think Hydra - Affinity in terms of the atmosphere I'm going for, no need for them to be mental.

Thanks for all the great feedback so far.

damn, this is hotttttttttttttt

the biggest thing i would change is your little kick roll into the main theme. imo this tune is really original and that really generic kick roll kills it. i can hear in my head how i would do it, but i would just recommend experimenting. if you care how i would do it ill let ya know

but i definitely smell signage. well that and all the cigarette smoke i inhaled tonight......

Updated with a better buildup.

i've always loved this track, that melody sure is something special..

the new version sounds pretty good. the kick is too loud though, i can't hear the bassline very well.

Hehe. I remember this the first time

cant fault it mate orchestral break is just as clean and haunting

Just cool, calm uplifting melodies. Niiice

You gonna send it out? Will definitely get interest from a few

Good luck with it mate

Smiling Frog

wow there are actually talented people in the production forums, quite unique

Sounds nice, although the bass is swamped in the rest - cant hear it very well..

The melody is nice, but not one of those that stick to your head after a single listen..

Btw, is that a harmonica in the background??!

Keep it up

- J .

What a beauty! Very clean solid production. Breakdown sounds very nice...

Not the sort of melody that sticks in your head, but it definitely works for the style. Good stuff!

Very, very very nice. You automatically get praise for the orchestral strings and piano combination. Woo!

Posted by smaulpaul.co.uk on Feb-01-2005 14:56:

yeah I love this. would love to hear a full sample and use this on my next mix!

Posted by Pete_B on Feb-01-2005 17:09:

Dude! This is amazing. I never heard the original but I'm absolutely loving this. Personally, I wouldn't change much about it. The hihats and perc need more 'oomph' but apart from that this is the most beautiful trance I have heard in ages.

Can I get a copy to spin?

Posted by trance-ecj on Feb-01-2005 21:45:

wow really really really nice!!!

the only thing i can complain about is that I wanted to hear more piano in the break....it was a bit TOO simple, it kinda reminds me a little bit veracocha, if there was more to it, it would have sounded more unique..but i guess it works in its own way

the rest is killer! KILLER!
