Messini

this place makes the best gyros in the world!! u should all check it out. its on the danforth (near logan and danforth). so close to my place i go nearly every week. the good thing is that its REAL meat (not some bulshit processed stuff u find at mr. greek, etc.), they give u ALOT (in fact its seriously tooo much but i still finish it ), and its only $4.65!! most places are like 5-6-7 bucks and its shit meat and they give u almost NOTHING!

just had one right now..

mmmm. seriously the best..if not in the world definitely in toronto!

The actually put chips in the gyro there? Wow that is authentic. I dont think anywhere else in Toronto does it the real greek way like that.

I miss greece for the simple reason that eating out and "junk food" tasted so good but it was still healthy for you!

Posted by nycionx on Jan-23-2005 21:06:

chips.. yes as in the canadian way to say "fries"

anyways thats how most places in greece do it. Ive never seen it done here but i'll definately have to check this place out.

The fact that they do this and offer "authentic" greek salad which means NO lettuce and a nice thick slab of feta means that these guys mean business and know what they are talking about when it comes to food.

I'm hoping my uncle can make it again. Af for Gyro (pron "YEE ROW") having chips in it, uh when I was in Cyprus last summer I never had any w chips in it.

Wow, this place is not too far from me. I should check it out.

I've been living on the Danforth for most of my life. I'm not even Greek but I CRINGE when people ask for j-eye rosse. WTF is that?!

cyprus was its own country that is not part of greece. Even though greek culture dominates most of the island im sure there are plenty of differences between cypriots and greeks.

Well yes but it seems strange that that's considered "authentic" especially since "chips" are NOT a traditionally Greek food.
As for letting me know Cyprus was its own coutntry seperate from Greece, uh yeah thanks for educating me on that...esp since my family is from there I consider myself a Canadian/GreekCypriot. The Greek and Cypriot cultures are similar and yes there are differences as well. I was questioning your logic behind saying adding chips to an authentic greek dish is how it was always done. I disagree. Anyway, the point is the food is fucking GOOD. No matter how you eat it.

Posted by amb_ on Jan-24-2005 02:57:

Greek food is one of my weaknesses.

Posted by Endlesswave on Jan-24-2005 03:05:

I love it. There's a place by my house if I want to eat "authentic" Greek food. (If I can't eat it at home w someone for example.)

Posted by rabbitjoker on Jan-24-2005 03:07:

Ah, greek, cypriot - you're all a bunch of macedonians!
