Three Drives - Greece 2000 (DJ Shog & DJ Tatana Remixes) [S2 Records]

Three Drives - Greece 2000
S2 Records [S2R003-6]
A. DJ Shog Remix
B1. DJ Tatana's Sirup Mix
B2. Extended Mix

Just wanted to post this even if i can't stand much of any of the 200* updates of the classics and these 2005 mixes aren't exceptions (excluding the timeless original on the b-side), even less because Greece 2000 already has way more than enough mixes out there for everyone. More or less worthless efforts once more trying to make some $$$.

A. DJ Shog Remix is a below average standard cheddar version with little to none originality. Only the sample bored me to death, can't even think what the full version might have done...

B1. DJ Tatana's Sirup Mix is a only slightly more interesting with a pretty different twist; some heavy guitars are used there for an unexpected effect. Overall a rather below average effort and i could have lived without this easily.

B2. Extended Mix/Original needs no explanation, everyone knows it by now.

Yet again a huge classic is a few steps closer to eternal damnation tnx to the endless amount of annual updates. Won't get this even if i would get for free.

Samples can be found on several stores, just pick your fav and hope it's there if you're interested.. at least Chemical (.mp3/.rm), Decks Records (.mp3) and Dancegrooves (.rm) have samples to listen.

why? oh why??
it's like they just don't get it

Posted by stamper on Jan-27-2005 12:46:

Man this classic was redone a couple years back, but those remixes were quite good.

Thes on the other hand are trash, who would pay money to listen to this honestly?

Posted by kixalot on Jan-27-2005 13:21:

dammit. Those guys don't even deserve to remix Greece 2000 if they're going to do a bad job at it. I mean, how can a label actually release this? It's just...ass. I can live with a whole lot of remixes of old tunes, but Greece 2000 holds a special place in my heart, so I'm a little annoyed. When will people learn? You can't improve on perfect.

Those remixes are just awful... i happen to have this vinyl (just bought it to get the extended mix) and there is no need to buy it if you already have the original

Oh for fuck sake. Is there any limit to how low trance will stoop creatively to rake in cash? Could they possibly have taken a more re-released and more already remixed tune to release again? I'd be one of the last to jump on the trance is dead-bandwagon, but stuff like this sure explains why people jump on it in the first place.

Can't agree more.

only benighted fools and hardcore cheese fans will squander their money for something like this.

in passing, i'd hit it.

scheitt remixes, ...
i'm not bashing the ideas of remakes and new remixes after several years, some of them are good and some of them are bad. this one however is pretty nasty, it's like when you run for the toilet and it hurts while shitting, ....

YAY more greece 2000 remixes. Just what trance needs.

if only the guy out of flutlicht was still doing tatanas stuff
I've always wanted a flutlicht mix of this

Most of these artists have to give authorisation for remixes, unless they were stupid enough not to include that right in their contract (remixes come out of their royalties), so either way you can blame the original producers of these 2005 mixes as much as anyone.

tatanah... i'll pass.

Nope, mostly it's the label not the artist

I just had a listen to the samples on Chemical Records - what an absolute joke.

I couldn't agree with you more Grim Reaper. The new remixes are terrible, and are nothing more than a cash grab by the label.

Give me the Lost Tribe vs. Miro or Man With No Name Mixes any day

The only decent Tatana stuff that was "produced" was that which was done by Flutlicht, and by the sounds of it they sure didn't have anything to do with the Tatana remix this time unfortunately.

Then it's the artist's fault for being stupid enough to allow the label to clear remixes at will.

This is a piece of shit release. Ruined a great track. Not much else to it, honestly.
