Basically cross-posted from another sub-forum -- Link

Just wondering if you guys can help answer a couple questions!

I have been to the prior 3 years of Ultra in Miami (loving every single minute) and was devasted when I learned I would not be able to attend this year. In order to get my fix, I am considering the Tiesto event @ Glow on the 22nd of this month.

Only one problem.

I've never been to a club. Ever. I am 24, so age isn't an issue. My ignorance is the only thing keeping me from ordering a ticket right this minute, so hopefully you guys can answer some of my questions... humor me please!

1. What is proper attire consist of? I'm a blue jeans/casual shirt guy... will this suffice? I don't want to be not allowed in after I made a 250 mile drive!

2. Comparative atmosphere to Ultra? I just want to be there for Tiesto and the music... not interested in the social aspect. Will I be able to enjoy the music like I would at Ultra or are there more distractions?

3. Any idea what time the doors close and the set is over? I still would have to make class that morning back here in Raleigh.

4. Can I bring in my camera or no?

5. Last one, I swear... is the lighting/sound quality as awe-inspiring as Ultra? Like I said, I've never been to a club.

1. jeans are ok. they usually want you to wear a collar but pete says there will be a "relaxed dresscode" for this night. so you should be ok with a casual shirt and sneakers.

2. well, i mean... its not going to be on the same kind of scale as Ultra... especially not on a tuesday... but if you enjoy tiesto you can enjoy him anywhere... and as for not caring about the social aspect, just curious why not? most of the people that go to glow are friendly and everyone likes to party together. but if you dont want to be a part of that, i think you can still make your own fun. but i think that's all part of it.

3. its over when they feel like it being over. either when tiesto decides to finish or when glow decides he's done. pete promises a MINIMUM 3 hour set. and tiesto goes on at 1 i believe. in my personal opinion i think he will spin til 5, but who knows, maybe they really win stop him at 4. glow is weird about that sometimes. i think its going to be a very relaxed night and they'll let him do whatever he wants.

4. nope... no camera.

5. glow's lighting will NOT impress you. even though i've never been to ultra, glow's lighting pales in comparison to most parties/clubs i've been to. but i believe their sound to be very good. there are a lot of debates about that, but i think they have great sound. but once again, i havent been to ultra, i have no idea how it compares to that.

come with an open mind - you'll have a great time. but dont come expecting it to be like Ultra - the party of parties. you will probably be disappointed. that doesnt mean it wont still be a great night, with great music and a great vibe.

Thank you very much for the reply...all of my questions were answered! Especially the attire part. I had no clue about that one whatsoever.

As far as the social aspect of it -- I should have said I wasn't "AS" into the social aspect. It's just not huge reason for going is all i meant.

Part of what was so amazing about all of my Ultra visits was the atmosphere... I've never felt such a rush before. I wanted to gauge from others if this place has that same ambience.

Call me overly inquisitive, but even though i really want to see Tiesto it is going to be a hassle for me... I have exams the following day, as well as work in the afternoon. I suppose I just like making informed decisions.

where are you from? if you dont mind the drive, why not go see him at Crobar in nyc the following night (wed)? crobar is an awesome club. i would still pick glow if i had to choose, but - i'm a little partial to glow its nothing against crobar. and for some reason, its always a big hassle everytime we drive to ny.

edit: duh amy, read the location - north carolina? yeah i can see how DC would be easier for you.

Yeah I've made the drive to both cities numerous times... DC is exponentially easier and quicker to get to than NY.

PLUS I kinda wanna get my feet wet... if I like it then I'll think real hard about coming back for Markus (in March right?).

pete said that tiesto will start between 11-12 and will play at least 3 hours. so im thinking more of a 2-3 closing time for this night rather than a 4-5. i mean it is a tuesday.

Posted by glittergirl on Feb-13-2005 05:20:

you're right.

About the sneakers part...unfortunately make sure that they are "diesels....Maddens"....u get my drift...if the guys at the door feel like giving you a hard time and u are just wearing "sneakers"

A) they will NOT let you in
or
B) they will make you pay MORE

this is from experiences that others have told me...but u know how word of mouth is....right Amy?!

But if you do decide to come out, have fun and you will deff enjoy yourself!!

its as simple as throwing a nicer pair of shoes in your car.
i dont know why so many people fail to realize that.
