Question Fuel prices?

So i know i keep hearing you guys in the states saying about high fuel costs. $2 a gal i think i heard someone say before.
Well i was wondering which area of the world has the highest price?

By me its 82.9 pence per litre which is about 3.80 per gallon.
So 3.80 x 1.88999 (current exchange rate) = $7.18

Posted by jp on Feb-17-2005 15:31:

It's $7,40 a gallon in Holland

Posted by Lira on Feb-17-2005 15:36:

I'm posting the price as soon as I find out how many litres a gallon is

Edit:

Let's see... 1 R$ = US$ 2,562, and a gallon costs R$ 10,592.

Converting to dollar we get... U$ 4,134

(It's too expensive for our economy though)

free my friends dad owns a QT so he gives us free gas and taquitos

Posted by tribu on Feb-17-2005 17:19:

I paid $1.99/gal for the cheapest gas last time around (last week or so)

However, US fuel costs are majorly subsidized. Our prices are kept artificially low by the government, who uses our Federal tax dollars to pay the companies to keep the consumer cost low. There doesn't seem to be any figures on the extent off our subsidation.

You may want to note that you are using UK gallons which are different to US gallons. Is works out about 3.14 per gallon using US gallons. And converted to dollars, approx. $5.95 per gallon.

Edit: I don't mean to be pedantic or anything mind. :P

1 British (Imperial) gallon = 4.55 litres
1 US gallon = 3.79 litres

Posted by Lira on Feb-17-2005 20:22:

My calculations are on UK gallon.

Why can't you all use litre? And why do Americans even need to mispell it? Chaos, all chaos

We do in this country, I think the thread starter was just trying to make the prices easier to understand for the Americans.

Posted by Electrotek on Feb-17-2005 21:19:

Let me say this, as an American.

Americans in general are a bunch of whiney ungrateful little bitches complaining about a mere 10 cent increase in gas.

Maybe if they shifted their priorities and stop purchasing those POS SUV's so they can be the walking manifestation of penis envy, they wouldn't have to spend so much on filling up their Goddamn gas tank.

We should be happy for the price we pay in gas, considering what the rest of the world pays for.

I guess there are tradeoffs, as we get cheap fuel but detuned imported cars, while the Europeans get expensive petrol but the real deal in performance cars.

Actually i was trying to make them realise about how high the prices in the rest of the world so they'd stop moaning about their $2 a gal fuel.

Posted by Spartan on Feb-17-2005 22:16:

if you know where to go I can get gas for as little as $1.40 a gallon, but I usually pay around $1.75 at most stations.

its a good thing its not so expensive b/c my V8 SUV is old and gets about 13 mpg nowadays

being American does have its perks

Yeah, like getting detuned European or Japanese performance cars, or even worse, not receiving the badass cars that are available overseas, like the Ford Escort Cosworth, M3 CSL, Porsche 911 GT3RS, Opel Speedster, etc.

I don't even drive an SUV, and I don't bitch about how high gas prices are. Hell, they can go $3-$4 a gallon and you won't see me bitch and cry about how high gas prices are.

Hell, I do HOPE gas prices hit that high. Hopefully that would spur faster and more improved mass transit and the death of SUV's, not to mention fewer people on the road.

Hugely popular rally car in Europe, will kill any POS Cobra with less displacement.

Posted by Spartan on Feb-17-2005 22:30:

that car looks like a shoe in my opinion

and SUV's rock

Posted by Electrotek on Feb-17-2005 22:33:

Yeah, until they flip over

If you want to get an SUV, at least get a VW Touareg V10 TDI or a Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

Would you rock this?

Posted by Spartan on Feb-17-2005 22:36:

aaaaaaaaah, what is THAT?!!

no way
