Maybe the two True Faith's shoulda been collapsed into one... dunno how it will affect the voting

Posted by Psy-T on Mar-13-2005 22:24:

you have to remember that people initially expected less then 10 tracks to be nominated for '87.

I'm just wondering why it's 87 and not 84, 85, 86, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, or another?

I guess 87 because that's about the first year since the 70s of Jarre & Kraftwerk when more than a minimal amount of good EDM (influenced at least) tracks came out.. before that it would have been a little too short of a TOTA contest. TOTAs for '88-'01 will come later, we go through them year by year. Since 2002 TOTAs have been already made on TA.

i chose '87 as it is the (official) beginning of acid house.
'86 will probably be held aswell due of the big demend.

people originally doubted that the '87 toty could be done, so i took the initiative.

Heh, i thought about that but doubted it would be that obvious.

i cannot believe you forgot Kenny G - Songbird

also

Lady In Red - Chris De Burgh
Livin' On A Prayer - Bon Jovi
Didn't We Almost Have It All - Whitney Houston
Mony Mony - Billy Idol
Land Of Confusion - Genesis
Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House
Is This Love - Whitesnake
Should've Known Better - Richard Marx
(I Just) Died In Your Arms - Cutting Crew
Wanted Dead Or Alive - Bon Jovi

Posted by muckluck on Mar-14-2005 16:09:

We could go back as far as 85 and have a fair amount of Chico house and Detroit techno if you wanted EDM. Even in this 87 vote the nominees are mostly pop songs that have been recognized by most people 15 years ago.

the rest may or may not be '87, but in any case, i didnt forget. i just dont like any of these, and apperantly, the rest of TA dont like them either
if you like them so much you should have nominated them
the only screening i did was based on the year of release

Posted by noikeee on Mar-14-2005 17:25:

even if i can only recognise "when the streets have no name" and "yeke yeke" (the way more recent hardfloor remix!) from that list, i think this is a pretty cool idea and looking forward to the voting for the other years

Posted by dj tek on Mar-14-2005 19:18:

lol.. when did this become sticky ? but my fav. song of 1987 will always be Depeche Mode - Never Let Me Down Again[Split mix]
from one of the greatest electronic album 'Music For The Masses'[Sire 1987]
