WMC Needs to Find a New City
3 nights in a row I have been at parties that the cops have shut down due to noise.
Last night it was the massive BBC Radio 1 Party.
I'm thinking if Miami doesn't want the WMC to bring in millions of dollars from people like me, maybe it's time to find another venue.
I'm thinking Vegas. Any other suggestions?
It was in discussion to move it to vegas after wmc 01,not sure why it never happened.Gambling and good music ..how can you go wrong.
Definitely couldn't agree more, although I do like Miami - it's just not friendly to the WMC scene. I came down here yesterday for the weekend and to enjoy being with friends who were attending the conference but I've never seen such shoddy reception for people who've planned for this a long time and have $$ to spend. I'm thinking Atlanta or NYC for a new venue. Sure beats the fascist police state atmosphere you get here.

On Saturday, the official WMC poolparty at the Wyndham (host) hotel was shut down an hour after starting.

WMC vegas? there's been long speculation about it. Blame it all on the rich ppl that have moved to South Point South Beach who have gone to complain to the city.. they have started to been hard ass with loud noise for a year now... after 7 PM if you are blasting loud music from your car you get a bad ticket ... though yeah, Miami Beach police needs to do something about it... or else, we grow a mini clubbing community in Downtown....... which is actually growing. The other would b cool Ft. Lauderdale, but there arent any of the upscale clubs that are in SoBe... But Vegas?!?!... It just wouldnt survive. What atracts so many ppl to WMC is the fact that is by the beach, the vibe, the PPL, the Palm Trees, along with the music... something Vegas does not have.

well itd be cool to be in vegas for a few reasons.
1. You can buy liquor 24 hours a day everyday.
2. You can drink on the streets.
3. The clubs can stay open all day and night.
4. The city was made for conventions and tourist.
5. I live here, so its close
6. Cheap drinks if your gambling.
7. There is a variety of venues, all within 2-3 miles of each other.
a few bad things.
1. Most clubs are not big clubs by any means. Vegas has switched and mostly builds lounge/ ultra lounges, which could be cool. There are some areans here that could be used and would hold mass people..(e.g. orleans arean, thomas and mack center, house o blues).
2. There will be a TON o people. Every weekend is already packed with people form cali and arizona driving over, so add in a national music conference....you got a lot o people. However there are national conventions almost every weekend. There was the porn star convention the same weekend as the huge computer entertainment conference. there was no big problems there.
I am sure there are more, and I am sure none of us are really in any position to effect such a switch in cities. So its a good thought and Id love it, but I odubt it will happen.
keep it in florida and move it to tampa....
vegas has too many tourists to begin with...
oh yeah... i live there...
Of course, Vegaa has massive hotels (perfect for pool parties) huge convention centres (perfect for Ultra sized events) and the most relaxed liquor laws of almost anywhere.
It would be cool to build huge licensed production spaces that show off all the newest lighting,& sound - and that keep running all week.
I'd miss the beach, but I'd love to see all 3 of the Cirque du Soleil shows & gambling myself poor!
And it's not as if Vegas doesn't have nightclubs. They have lots of them. A few even rival Space in size. (Globally, Space isn't even all that big. The Guvernment in Toronto or The Roxy in NYC hold more people.)

umm keep it in Miami
I had a great time in Miami being in the sun, warm weather and beautiful people but persistent problems left a sour taste. First off their taxi drivers suck. I tried to get a taxi from AAA back to the Sheraton because my feet was hurting from standing all day at Ultra and no drivers wanted to drive the 10 blocks to my hotel. The same shit happened last year from Space to my hotel. That's absolutely ridiculous. The lack of parking spaces, or $20 parking, sucks too.
What about the outrageous prices? $13 a drink and $7 water? Give me a break. Not only did they raise the price, they also made a smaller drink.

keep it in miami...but improve the service
no matter where you bring the conference, prices for cover, parking, rooms, drinks will skyrocket.
plus theres nothing like hitting the beach at 6am after a night of partying
my $.02
keep it in miami..
NUMBER 1 REASON
sooo many hot chicks a teh beach!!
