Cool

I'm gonna grab it at the weekend, last mix was nice, a bit hard for me though. The tracklisting looks a bit more like my likings here though
where did you get the silverblue vinyl from, ive been after do u know and step back for ages, european shipping is helpful.
and i did that thing with my tt's to change the height of the tone-arm and even beyond the max at about 6.25 it still touches the dots, the only bad thing with concordes.

Posted by djdawn on Nov-22-2001 18:38:

I got the Silverblue from www.djshop.de dunno if they ship outside of germany...

Sorry about that tonearm thing, I saw your post in the DJ Zone but forgot to reply....it's really strange cause I got the Concordes, too and they don't touch. do they even touch when there is a record on? cause then the record sticks out over the platter and keeps the needle from coming in contact with the dots?

hope this mix isn't too hard for ya, it has some harder and some more melodic parts. Looking forward to your feedback

Do you use strictly vinyl or combination of vinyl or mp3/cds?

Posted by Cyrax on Nov-22-2001 19:22:

Thanks looks really great, I'll grab it later

Posted by boy_luke_y2k on Nov-22-2001 20:13:

Cool

Don't apologise, u don't have 2 reply u know, its a forum, a choice, but thanx anyway, since I put it on 5.5 it hardly skips at all, so much so that ive lowered the weight to 1.75, now the vinyls will last for lots longer

I love the way you mix, sharp but not stabby, not so much the end of different songs are noticeable but so that the songs don't over-run their time, if you know what I mean. What mixer do you have?

Posted by AndiH on Nov-22-2001 21:19:

awesome tunes and great mixing as usual...i really like these kickin hard samples

i don't like the re-animator and re-flex tracks that much, but 'the colour of trance' and 'alone with me' are top notch

btw is it just me or did you miss a beat at 14:58?

Posted by Cyrax on Nov-22-2001 21:23:

I've listened to that specific part andiH, and I can't find anything that's abnormal, ... perfect mixing ...

dawn => full revieuw later

great job! keep it up. i like your style. i particularly like the more energetic uplifting shit like amara - rush, and peran van dijk - good time, so i especially liked how the pitch turned up on those sounded good. alls i can say is keep it up and can you recommend anymore fast, energetic, but uplifting songs like amara - rush, and peran van dijk - good time?

Posted by quddha on Nov-23-2001 02:07:

Cool thank you

WOW
only been away for the night and so many nice replies already!!!

and a bunch of questions so here are the answers:

quote:

I use two turntables and Traktor plugged into my mixer. Svenson & Gielen was not yet released in Germany, for example (only in the netherlands)

quote:
What mixer do you have?

KME DJM 1

quote:

thanks for your nice comments, Andi! it must be just you, I listened to it again and can hear nothing wrong....what exactly do you mean by "missed a beat", like they weren't matched or like the timing in the build of the songs is wrong?

quote:

well, I put all the ones I know in this mix, except "Novator - Fusion". If I come across more songs, I will let you know.

as I said, 2 turntables plus my PC as a third turntable.

THANKS to everyone for your great support and feedback!

Re: thank you

I downloaded the mix last night, the forum was to busy but I knew the URL to the folder.
The mix really kicks ass, as usual a unique and fast moving combination of hardtrance and melodic. The "dry" sound probably makes it sound very good on the dancefloor. (I'd love to hear it on better speakers )The mixing it self is incredible. To work that fast takes skills. This is a piece of professional work in my opinion. Keep up the good work Dawn. You just get better and better.

nope...it sounds like

code:
beats of tune #1: 01 02 03 04 05 06 ... 28 29 30 31 32 01 02 ... beats of tune #2: 32 01 02 03 04 05 ... 27 28 29 30 31 32 01 ...

but i think it's just me

and how did you make these kickin hard samples?

Posted by djdawn on Nov-23-2001 12:59:

ok, I got ya!
but still it's only you... (strange cause I think we both got a good ear for things like this)
that "Bush" track is a tricky bitch to mix, because they leave out two beats in the beginning....
instead of 29 30 31 32 01 02
it is 29 30 01 02, but this happens only once in the beginning so I let it go 2 beats later.

and I made the "kickin hard" samples directly from the record. That is the beginning of the track and I brought the crossfader in only for this part.

Any problems with the output from traktor? (Noise sometimes, varrying playback speed) I've done the same as you but I'm having problems with Traktor and have considered getting a cdj and using that instead of direct from Traktor.

wow...i was just curious cause in 14:15 you're still mixing twisted with kickin hard and in 14:40 (25 secs later!) you bring in the new tune ...usually it takes me a minute to find the record i wanna play next

i had problems with traktor, but that's because I only have a 375 Mhz CPU...when I raised the latency in the setup it was ok. So now it's fine. But a CDJ would be a lot nicer to handle, I don't really like using traktor...

@Andi: I played "Twisted" from Traktor, had "Kickin hard" on one turntable and "Future" on the other

King

DJ Dawn was here and gave me the CD of his mix.... SUPERB!!! Full of energy... and faster than the main trance-songs...

I really like this mix!!!!

Posted by sot on Nov-23-2001 20:25:

sweeeeet mix man..your mixing is right on and hard to notice..good job

Posted by Eugene on Nov-23-2001 21:06:

Excellent mix! As usual, hard and slammin'.
The melodic parts are quite nice.

The problem that AndiH described (and I noticed it too) is that you matched the beats, but not the beginnings of each song's measure. The loud "crash-drum" signalling the beginning of the next measure occurs on the NEXT beat

Really enjoyed the opening (first 2), "Colour of Trance", and "Good Time."
Didn't like "Excelsis".
In my opinion the Bluesky mix of Silverblue - Step Back is better

In short: great stuff.

Agreed, but I don't think the Blue Sky remix would have been too appropriate in this part of the mix, if the Blue Sky remix was slotted in before Twisted that's really the only time that would have been appropriate, but the Blue Sky remix is a bastard to mix as the song jumps in quickly and releases quickly. Have you got decks Eugene, if you have get the Step Back vinyl, now @ juno, and see how hard it is to mix, well I find it hard to mix
