oh my god
my f'n mother..i swear.
ok she just found out that my uncle's wife is an athiest and she's freaking out because my little cousin (he's like 3) isn't going to have "God" in his life and she just went on and on about how it's "WRONG" and "he needs to be brought up with some sort of belief system BLA BLA BLA BLA" which, i'm not saying i disagree with, but it's NOT HER KID, it's her nephew, and it's my UNCLE'S job to try to work something out with HIS WIFE and HIS SON...
i mean am i right or am i right?
god, she fucking thinks everyone in the world has to see things her way or they're wrong.
Fuck that...all I believe in is drugs, music and sex.
she can worry, a little, but thats taking it 2 far..
oh and clover, i have a magnet on my car, u know the we support ones..
its says
i suport drugs sex and fuck you
(used 2 say rock and roll but ona my friends changed it for me)
She sounds like a right fucking lemon.

You have every right (supposedly) in the USA (i'm American't, we don't believe in other countries) to believe in what you believe in unless your rights are infringed. Everyone can do what they want.

I mean whenever I see interviews on TV after a major disaster, like the twin towers being hit for example, they will always say something along the lines of "now is a time to pray for the victims / god is with us, etc." |

it's not surprising for her to worry because it is normal to fear the unknown. but i have to say i disagree with the issue. i grew up without god in my life and i turned out just fine.
i come from a pretty strict irish catholic family (my mom's side..no shit?!), but i wouldn't call myself a devout catholic at all. i'd like to believe there's a higher power and that something pleasant happens to our souls when we die. i'm extremely interested in evolution too, but i mean there's no telling whether or not evolution is the works of "God"...but whatever that's besides the point.
my mother was raised catholic and she's very intelligent to say the least, but when she pulls shit like this, i get disappointed in her. talk about narrow-minded..jeez. she really gets annoyed when i don't agree with her or when ANYONE doesn't agree with her.. she needs to lighten up.
i am really amazed that she isn't looking at this situation objectively and recognizing the boundaries that she should not be overstepping.
i mean yea, she can express her views to my uncle because it's her brother, but from her tone she is like on a mission to MAKE him talk to his wife...
great, this is going to be a fun weekend! (i'm driving up to tampa with her to visit this uncle and his family).
lol
i'm bringing an oz of weed and a bottle of stoli vanilla. hahahah

I have met quite a few Americans over the last few years and a few of them seemed a bit shocked about the lack of seriousness with regards to religion we have. Other than weddings and christenings I have never stepped foot in a church in my life. |

alright well just as long as you know that my mother's sexual activity (or lack there of i should say) has nothign to do with this, i just found that comment out of left field and irrelevant.
yea she's totally being narrow-minded and i know plenty of you will agree, but my god...easy people! it's my mommy and she drives me nuts, but i still love her... have some respect please.

It would be interesting to compare the crime statistics between a country where religious beliefs are commonplace, and one where there is little
Im not inferring anything, just wondering

haha, thought this was going to become a battle thread for a second.
i totally agree with you on this on sly. that might be because i come from an atheist family, but yeh, i don't think that others should really be using things like family ties and guilt to push religious beliefs on others. as long as the parents aren't restricting the kid's access to christian beliefs or whatever, wtf, let them choose to be parents as they see fit. if there really is a god, let him decide. if not, then nobody really has to worry. then again, what if the hindus or buddhists have it right? (i'll steer away from a theological debate.)
and hey, tell her at least they're not converted wiccans or something...
