Be Cool! Cooking the perfect brat (with pics)

Ok, totally bored but I decided to document my first time trying to cook a brat "the right way". Please tell me you have tried this also.

1 big pot
1 package of quality brats
a couple of beers and use the same amount of water
2 onions

Add beer 2 beers with equal amout water
Chop onions (I like'em big)
Add brats and let simmer for about an hour on low heat.
(the Newcastle is for the chef)
REMINDER: always use tongs (not a fork) to keep jucies inside.

After an hour put on grill. I used a "forman grill" because it was easier and didnt want to wast coals on something that was going to be on it for only a few minutes. BBQ grill is best though.
Grill until you get the look you want. I kept turning them and didnt let them sit too long on the grill.

After grilling to your satisfaction....put back into beer/onions( 10 min) and start getting the things you need ready to serve

Prepare the way you like it....and enjoy

Off for more shots

YOu are correct! Ive been using a couple different beers and the flavors vary. The pics are from my first time trying to cooked them....Ive also tried Newcastle (it was ok)....but Anchorsteam has been the best so far (as seen in the pics).

BTW you sig is great I wish I had a good connection (just moved)

it took me a long time to get to like kraut but I powered through the dislike

just like beer, wine, tomatoes, mushrooms, and coffee. All the more enriching. Except Olives. Fuck olives.

Those were fucking good!....I had one, and its the most Ive eaten in a week

the beer makes it all taste so good. if you grill the onions a little before you put them in the beer, they'll get a bit sweeter. make sure to salt and pepper the onions. after a few minutes they'll caramelize a bit then toss them in the beer with the brats. then when you put them in the beer they'll get all soft and delicious with the sweetness of the onion and the added flavor of the beer. oh and it'll look a little more brown then what you have in your picture.

i usually eat it with dijon mustard only, no ketchup. i love ketchup, but for some reason i think a brat tastes best with just mustard and some of those onions.

Good luck with it....its rather yummy. Just remember to get buns/rolls that are thick. Otherwise they will tear and fall apart.
