New Pope condemns Harry Potter books
Boy this guy's off to a great start. Of all the things to condemn:

Don't you have some business with like that world poverty and starvation type thingy to worry about? Or how 'bout how much money the Catholic Church in the U.S. has to shell out as a result of Catholic priest pedophiles ($2-3 billion):

Could someone tell me why they don't prosecute these sick fucks at the same time? Why do these pedophilers seemingly have immunity (most of them, at least), but non-priest pedophilers do not?
i like the harry potters book they are pretty good.
On to those priests they are pretty sick. The catholic church is paying many fines to the victims and the new pope wants to forget that ever happened. Not much you can do I wouldn't be surprised if he honestly believes that never happened
!
This just in. Benedict hates kids!
well you see he doesnt have any so he can't have any feelings for kids

Nobody finds it disturbing that children would learn about witchcraft before learning about God?
Now before everyone gets their panties in a twist, my reference to "God" would include all denominations/religions...
im surprised a former priest would condemn a book about a young little savoury boy! lol

huh? thats how smart i am. I really don't care you are a bit off yourself shakka.
Ah yes i got what you meant. See my issue with warts is that I keep on getting them on my fingers. I put medicine on them and they go away than they come back. I just got rid of one like yesterday. I ripped it off and it bleed a lot.
Yeah that was an absurd comment. I am sorry Shakka next time I will explain the way I feel and not write in 'code' that you would not get. But hey its not your fault like i said next time I will correctly write what I mean.
So how are you today??

Originally posted by Shakka No. I was married in Chicago. I live in Atlanta with the other Jebusland crazies. Nothing wrong with Chicago suburbs--there are some really great ones!

Originally posted by MisterOpus1 Regardless, your statement does beg a more broader question - why would kids have to learn about a God of any sorts in the first place? And why then would they have to have a comparison between a belief in a God versus engulfing themselves in a terrific ficticious story?

Originally posted by metalgearsolid I meant in the city The weather might be better but you guys don't have the art institute we have and not as many attractions. So in the end chicago is a better city to live in by far. Even if it gets cold during the winter.
what is it in the books the pope doesnt like??
you cant really come out and condemn something unless you know what uts about. the idea of magic and fairytales is nothing new...i mean this pope grew up in the hitler youth, and he turned out an alright christian did he not, and im sure such tales were about when he was a child. if this is the best the pope has to offer then whats the point??
the pope is there for weak ppl to have someone they can have faith in.
another religo being petty with popular culture. hardly surprising. that said, harry potter is the worst thing ever to happen to fantasy, maybe thats why he\'s really against it. just coz its shit
if it pisses off the pope, Im all for it.
they should sell it next to bible, they belong on that same shelf (fantasy)
