Guvernment Crowds etc....

I was reading some of the threads here and it seems like a lot of people don't like the crowd at Guvernment. I haven't been to the Guv in a little while since I've been so busy but how's the crowd lately? Is it very gino-ish nowadays?

I don't know about everyone else but everytime I've been to the Guv I've always had a great time and the people there have been great, friendly as hell. For me it's always the hip-hoppers that are there on a Saturday night that ruins it with me, sitting there with a bitter look on their faces and dirty looks to anyone that bumps onto them on the dance floor...so goddamn lame.

But yeah, for the most part all the people I've met at the Guv have been great. There's a shitload of friendly peeps there but I havn't been there in a little while so I'm not quite sure how it's like nowadays. Everyone just says they have a problem with the crowd there but don't say why. Is the Guv still a good place to party?

show up on the 20th and check out that mofo of a party!!

well Trancewave the crowed was nice on the 9th when i was there it was good i had a good time not that many ginos, the music was nice and the people were lookin good... a lot of Asians there though not that there is anything wrong with it... its just that a lot of them need to loose the attitude and stop looking at everybody else in a bad way just cause they dont asian like them... but realy they are the majority there and i think they always were. So all in all I dont give a damn I know some of them who are realy cool and fun to party with so I dont have any problems. im planing to check it out there this saterday again on more time before I leave to the UK and Have a fuckin blast there Oh i cant wait to go back there Im gona see Tiesto and farry the same night now is that sick or what ? hit me with a message if you wana like up there this sat would be nice to chill

I'm going to have to agree with DJ MG on this one. A lot a people that I hang out with, do not want to go to the Guvernment for that reason. There is a lot of Asians there, they tell me. Something like 70% to 80%. I've been to the GUV a couple of times and I was on the dance floor and everywhere I looked there where Asians.
Dont get me wrong I dont mind them and I do not have a problem with them, but I really want to see some blondes and some brunette hotties moving around. I like to see more of an equal kinda crowd. Not to many of one race.
And one more thing, when the GUV is packed you cant even breath in there! The ciling is dripping swet and it feels very nasty.

It is all our fault, we don't wanna go to guv couse of them and ginos. Damn, if we would come there there would be more of us then them, then we would be "kings of club". And u'll see in couple of night there will be only us...........

DJ MG, i might go to Guv next saturaday, not sure though, Nov 9-th was really good, just little bit more uplifting stuff in the begining and it would be perfect.

Everybody, i know u don't like Guvernment, but i think it is the best club for now in our huge, trance clubless city, so if more TA's would come in there, the atmosphere would be changed from Eastern to more like Western.

From the other hand, i like that trance is getting more and more popular among not only Euros, but all races in Canada. This is very good.....maybe we will get trance tunes to top 40 instead of Boys, Degrees and Spears......Only then we will have every night trance night in the clubs.

It depends on the night. When I am there for a special event or something that only the heads would know about then it is a nice atmosphere. I have been dragged in there a few times on regular saturday nights and it is nothing but a bunch of big titted men trying to pick up big titted women. Nothing really wrong with that, but when all the guys shirts come off, horrible dancing incures, and you get the shit bumped out of you all night then it sucks.

Hey Mandrick_V I don't think there's anything racist being said here. Let me first of all say that I am asian and believe me I can see where Trance Peekster is coming from. There are some nights that even I and some of my asian friends don't want to go to Guv because there are so many other asians there LOL (not that we don't want to party with our fellow triad brothers but I too believe it would be nice to have an equal crowd there. I enjoy going to clubs where there's people from all walks of life there and not so highly concentrated on one specific group. These clubs seem to be the most fun. But yeah, everytime I've been there it's still been great so no complaints from me.

I just go to clubs now and try to have the fun the best way I can and worry less about other things. Mandrick_V you sound like a great guy to party with. Hopefully there will be more peeps like you there at the Guv. Keep cool.

Be seeing you all at Smirnoff unless I get hit by a big truck or something. The lineup is insane, It's gonna be madness!! Looks like I might be spending most of the night at kool haus, can't possibly miss Green Velvet, Dave Ralph and ESPECIALLY DJ DAN!!!

Personally I seldom go to any other place but the Guvernment. Awesome Sound System, Amazing lights and a good DJ.
The crowd, well yea.....actually it depends on the nights. Usually Ive always found very friendly people there, but then again at times I've seen some "really" rude ones aswell. Some big sweaty guys trying to act too macho. But hey, everywhere you go, there are all types of people. The reason why there usually more at theGuvernment these days is that it has become too mainstream. Everyone knows about it so every other person just goes there. Its the "Inn" place so most people will just go cause its "theGuvernment"
But its still a great place to party specially if you go with a big group of people. I always go there with an open mind, just flat out to party and enjoy the music.
The 20th is gonna be awesome, so many TA's will be there so there is no doubt that the crowd will be kickass!!

The Guvernment used to be my fav. place on a Sat. night. Then Mark Oliver started spinning all this crap, and soon I stopped going, except for special events which are still awesome. I personally really like the Guv. crowds, I find the people there very friendly and open minded. I have met so many peeps there when I used to go regulary, that I felt it slowly becoming my second home! Overall, I still have some very fond memories from the Guv., I heard so many awesome tunes, met so many cool people, and had some very exhilirating dosing sessions I have a couple of buddies who only missed the Guv. on a Sat. night, once in the span of over a year and a half. Thats some hardcore shit!! They were more into the girls than the music though. Which is cool and all, until one of them soon developed a green discharge to match his green glow sticks, if you know what I mean!

sorry mandrick no matter what u think ull never get rid of the asians at guv...the only thing u can do is put up with them....THe Triad owns all drug trafficking inside the guv ur not gonna get rid of those asians....BUt lets get off that topic.

I totally agree with you Vivid. His got to go. He just doesnt do it anymore. He has to either change his style and look, and play a little more Trance, cause for me Mark does not play Trance, its more like Euro or I dont know what the fuck it is.
A friend of mind gave me cd with Mark Oliver on it, and I heard the whole thing about 74 minutes, and I didnt like, not even 1 song. Horrible. He had that song on it "Do you thing you're better of along" and shit like that. LOST!
Come on GUV, get it together with your regular Dj's.

Your point about the asians - so true!

And about Mark "changed his style for the worse" Oliver, I just think he is going where every other DJ is going too - playing the progressive and giving up on trance (except when GUV brings in a guest DJ that happens to be a trance DJ too, then Mark Oliver sparks his set up with some crazy trance tunes)... Nothing really wrong with Mark, he can have a great trance set once in a while, but I guess he realized that the crowds in this city prefer progressive and house over trance, and that is what he is spinning at the moment...

I have to agree with the thing about a lot of asians bein' at Guv. I'm asian myself & I guess it's not so bad that there's a lot of 'em, but the type that go there. The old fobs that snort coke and are just there to get high on crack is what's annoying. They rank up there with the shirtless muscle heads that sweat on everyone. I'd prefer it if there was a more diverse crowd that would appreciate the tunes being spun... but Guv is a club, so the meat market thing is expected.

Still lookin' forward to the 20th. Crowd that night should be great...

man, the guv is a cool club...I'm rarely disappointed when I go there. Sure, there's a lot of asians but if you live in Toronto, you'll know that asians are the largest minority now (previously Italian), so we can't avoid them (btw, I'm not asian).

You won't find a club that big in Toronto where all the patrons are trance/prog house/etc lovers like us but eventually Toronto will get there. I agree with the last few posts that said that Oliver should go but he won't until people stop going (which won't happen anytime soon)...he has a good, long-lasting relationship with the Guvernment and to be honest, there aren't too many local (and available) djs that
can keep 3000+ people in that place until 7 am.

It's definitely a better place to party when it's a special event because a lot of the people that go there regularly to get mashed won't pay the $25 (or more) to see a DJ they've never heard of so to conclude my post----->Nick Warren will kick ass, period.

I'm going there this saturday so I'll give my review on sunday. From the looks of this thread I'm not looking forward to it.

LOL 80% asian, U say this like its a bad thing. I myself am not Asian, BUT I am 1/8th Chinese, 1/8th Cherokee, 1/16th Scotish, 1/16th Carribian(Bahamen), and the rest Black. It just sounds a little raciest to point out that there R alot of asians, its almost as bad as saying that White people cant dance or blacks R just thugs and gangstas, or when I get the all too famous U R Wiccan and U listen to Trance and Hard House AND U R black, and my reply is yeah and doesnt everyone listen to Trance??? Maybe its cause I was raised in a military family around tghe world and I constantly am confronted with whole new situations, or maybe cause I just dont care what race anyone is, we R all HUMAN. Thats pretty much my 2 cents other than I hope I can make it to this party I have been stuck on the US side of the border since the 11th of Sept. not many partied in Ft. Drum NY. A gino is basically your stereotypical Canadian-Italian...you'll know what I mean when you see it here in Toronto. I don't want to offend anyone

If you're talking about the party on Dec 20, you should definitely come check it out...it'll be crazy

I think you're missin the mark (no pun intended) with that one.......the crowds in this city??? that is not a very wise comment......(were you at tiesto at koolhouse.....or any big trance events)......those are crowds brotha.....

we're not being racist at all...i guess this thread would look a little racist but u dont understand what we mean...We have no problems with asians at all...i have many asian friends....but the ones we're talkiung abt are the ones at guv who are 40-50 yrs old shooting up in the back of the club...all whacked out of their minds.... they all travel in packs....even if they were white we would still complain abt them...who wants to see old ppl on drugs??? not me
