Question Genre Semantics

It's come to my attention that we're never happy just enjoying something for what it is.
There is the ever present human need to define and categorise.

So in my own small way I have decided to make a bold step in bridging the gap between Progressive and Hard.
You may think this is unneccesary but it's been a long time coming, and I think you're all just afraid of change.

So I present to you a new substrate of Progressive defined in it's entirety by Ozgur Can - Changed (Gabriel & Dresden remix).

However this brings us to a crossroads; what will we call this exciting new genre?

Choose carefully in this moment which will surely influence the future of Proggables.

electro?

Posted by Hybrid Junkie on Aug-01-2005 09:56:

Sshhh, it's totally progstyle

Posted by -=M=- on Aug-01-2005 10:11:

neither.

Posted by Hybrid Junkie on Aug-01-2005 10:12:

You chose the 3rd option?

You're just afraid man!
Embrace change, don't shy away!

Ozgur has dissapointingly been seduced by the electro dark side.

Saw him in Miami and i was shattered.

And reports since have been nothing different.

Lost the plot imo.

It's a sad day.

Please observe 1 minutes silence

deep prog?
dark prog?
deep dark prog?

man

the 2 options you've given are shi-ite

Posted by Hybrid Junkie on Aug-01-2005 10:23:

It is more electro, but this was mainly in jest.
And now you've ruined the magic

Electro is the new tribal, tribal was the new dirty prog, dirty prog was the best part of prog, prog was the rightful successor of classic trance, trance was an offshoot of techno, techno was an offshoot of acid house.

Embrace the future, electro is the light.

Tough-prog... like it. Best of both worlds hey?

But man for the day when it's just a 'top track' again, rather than a top 'deep psy-tribal prog trance track with electro-house influences'. Kind of over the categorising, it's getting a little over the top.

Suppose it helps direct me to the right nights...

I think someone has tampered with the poll.
You don't understand how important it is to label correctly!!!

Stay tuned next week for the groundbreaking new genre; Emo-Trance!

hmmm just had a listen and i like. would not go astray as an alter ego or m.a.n.d.y production cept maybe not as dirty. therefore my assessment is its mre on the electro tip. i would like to know what prog elements this song actually contains apart from the producers obvious history?

Posted by Nyquist_Theorem on Aug-02-2005 03:56:

nicely minimal = unbelieveably boring.

Posted by Slade on Aug-02-2005 05:11:

Electro is a blight on the scene as we know it.
