Secret Societies // Rich Elite Class

Beyond publically known organizations such as the Skull 'n' Bones society, do you think there are secret societies or groups of people with such vast wealth and power that they can dictate world events behind the scenes?

Are they more powerful than Governments, or tied into Governments?

I really think the average person goes through life not knowing many of his/her perceptions, values, etc., have been somehow altered by people behind the scenes...

Well, it's said that a very small minority controls the Federal Reserve Bank in this country (which basically controls the nations money supply and it's subsequent real buying power/value)...don't know if it's true...but I DO know George Soros tried to influence the last election and he wasted a lot of his money in the process...I was glad to see that.

hmm possibly... i personally have always wondered if there is one group or one man that controls most of the power in the US... this "man" acts behind the scenes and does not have a face recognized by the public, however he uses war generals and the president as puppets. of course this isnt very logical, but in an 'x-files'ish way its fun to think about

the math is easy..... 99% of the wealth is in the hands of 1% of the population..... wealth = money = power i dont think they need to keep it to secret that they own our asses.

The question is whether these people secretly collude to manipulate or cause world events.

Also, are there societies out there whose wealth is not publicaly known/accounted for and not compiled on lists like "Fortune's richest people."

"Presidents as puppets". It's not as stupid a concept as you might think.
I mean, George Bush is the best example of a world leader that is nothing but a figurehead being manipulated by those around him. I suppose that goes with anyone with an IQ in this single digits

common guys the societies named above ..... the freemasons etc. they are hardly secret, especially in there meddling. Here in my country in the 1800s we had a french intervention. It is no secret that the conflict that arouse afterward was really a a conflict between 2 different schools of masons: The Scottish rite and the new york masons. These people are meddlers but they are hardly secret. Other "secret" societies that at one point or anothere have been shady meddlers are:

Opus Dei
the CIA
the sicilian mob (makes american mobsters look like pansies)
the mexican mob
the chinese mob
The Assasins (the Hasshishin)
The Yakuza
and many many others....

Most of the goals of the people in power are as plain and clear
as night and day. Most involves the acquisition of Capital which in our present day society equals Wealth. why so much fuss? Because Capitalism is in serious trouble (possibly in its dying agony if we take into account the economic theory contained in Karl Marx's The Capital) Most of these Organizations are making a grab for whatever they can get (resources). Right now the Wars are about Oil because Oil = Big bucks. But soon as other resources become scarce we will see conflicts of a different nature (For water or lumber for example). And well be asking ourselves the same question: are the powers conspiring against us (the masses)? And the answer will be yes (to fuck us over for the little we have left).

Those aren't exactly "Secret Societies". With the exception of Opus Dei, those are primarily organized crime rings. Might as well throw the Crips and the Bloods in there for kicks.

Sure there are secret societies but why would they be talked about? THEY ARE SECRET.

All those societies mentioned are filled with a bunch of rich kids who are well known, and you can get research on them so they aren't really secret anymore.
