Trance comeback
I dont know if anybody else feels the same as me, but the past 6 months especially the latter portions of those the trance scene has greatly improved....
Last year was a decent year but nothing mind blowing.... basically Sattellite at teh beginning and No One on Earth towards the middle of the year... but since lets say May/June'ish i feel that there have been tons of sets that have just blown me away...
The first set to really knock my socks off was Jon O' Bir's EM in Jan05. and that was pretty much the only real good thing going since A&B's EM last June04.... a few decent ones here and there but since the start of the summer i feel as if there has been good shit left and right...
examples
anything that Andy Moor touches,.. im sorry but every single remix has just been absolutly amazing
Jon O' Bir - Live @ Futuregrooves Blue Line (8-7-05)
John Digweed - Essential Mix Love @ GG 2005 (not so much trancey but still kicks ass)
Paul van Dyk - Live @ Nature One (8-6-05)
Paul van Dyk - Live @ 15 Jahre MaxiMal & Politics Of Dancing 2 Tour in U60311, Frankfurt (5-13-05)
DJ Tiesto - Live @ Cream, Amnesia Essential Mix (8-7-05)
Paul Van Dyk - Live @ Einslive Rocker (7-17-05)
Markus Schulz - Live @ Club Spirit NYC (7-8-05)
Gabriel & Dresden - Live @ Club Spirit NYC (7-8-05)
and our own Gerry Cueto's vol's 1-5... all are a fuckin sweet new sound to what was a kinda stale trance scene... much appreciated..
so those dates alone speak of the recent stuff ive been digging...but b/c they are all recent to each other they might just be playing all the same tracks as each other...
i dunno.. i just call em as i see em..of course this is all my opinion so take it how you like..
comments....
Groove Eric @ different events, house, club gigs
Edgar V after hrs @ Space
Ferry in Florida 2005
DJ Doug
DJ Michael
DJ Gerry
Dont forget about those guys and the ones that are bringing trance back into TranceAddict

nah... house is still king!
I think there has been a great improvement in the trance sound compared to what it has been. Having said that, I dont see it as a comeback, though its fair to say that TRANCE never died.. if you ask me. Just look at the top DJ's on the list and they play a great role on keeping and bringing this sound, yes even Tiesto. That EM set takes another step on the stuff that should get played. Among others such as John O Bir. But my conclusion is that I dont see that light that will overshine what House and Progressive have been doing lately.. great works have been coming out of this Genre's as well.. and its obvious with so many geniouses who cross barriers.. Sasha, Sander, Zabiela, Max, and on and on.. Trance is well represented in world wide scale by Ferry, Armin, Tiesto, O'Bir, Oakenfold ( Have heard great stuff from him lately ).. and others overseas. Locally, we got our own who have pushed the trance sound to date, Gerry, Eric, DJ Doug who I once saw play and was awesome.

I have to say I agree with this...I remember my b/f and I sampling tunes some time ago and everything that was coming out was such crap. We were so confused as to why the musik got poor in quality...for me personally trance has never died...I can't say that it hasn't sucked sometimes but it never really died because there have always been good producers not only DJ's pushing out the musik...for me the DJ's just play what awesome producers create. Of course I love the DJ's because if they play good musik they should get recognized for it!
I totally agree though Brent...trance for me has gotten better and better...there is no substitute...although I have opened up my mind to prog & house, I can never really say those genres are better. Besides, every genre differs in sound!
All in all...
TRANCE MUSIK ALL NITE LONG!

The only nonproducing djs that become superstars are those who are turntable masters who do more than just play songs and mix them together, so we have to rely on production in order to get out there.
IF U PLAY IT!!!!!! THEY WILL COME!!!!!!!!!
