What does EDM (or Trance ) music means to you?

... Allrights, first of all, I love bunch of types of EDM.. ranging from Progressive to House and Downtempo and whatnot. But I just wanted to make a thread of what (EDM)... but in the most part what trance music means to me. I somewhat know the connection that EDM brings amongs all of us as a whole, especially when we are dancing our little ass, but as in terms of Trance.. We may have different feelings. Me personally, the perfect combination of tunes brings into a real state of trance.. and I bet many of you here have really felt it naturally ( no chemicals ).. I dont know if its my gift, but its just the most intense joy I could ever feel. To others E enhances it or helps you get into that. I just love when I see all happy faces jumping in joy as we listen to the tune. I get this rush that goes through my spine and chicken skinned hehe.. seriously. This music is ADDICTIVE.. ofcourse the vibe has to be unique, as well as the atmosphere. Everything plays a role in helping on getting into this higher state... I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

hehe the reason I made this thead is because I was listening to a folder that I havent heard since 2001, and man all this Mixes and classic tunes, those essential mixes from Oakey, and those magyk days of Tiesto aaaawww .. I felt this warm rush that started in my stomach and up.. awesome. Now Im listening to some Chris Liebing Mixery Castle 01.. I think Im the mood after a stressed out week heh.

Trance/upbeat prog means everything to me. Brings me happiness, peace, good times, with or without substances. For me to listen to anything else EDM-wise would be out of the question.

agreed. i couldnt listen to more than a couple songs of non-EDM without getting a bit pissed. its like a drug, i can say im addicted. i have to listen to it everyday or i feel not right. somethings missing, wtf?? if i have friends in my car, and they complain about the musik, hey, u can walk or shut up. if im in their car, the headphones it is. i love glowstickings, and giving light shows to those people rolling or high off somethin. and the looks on their faces are priceless. people in the "rave" clubs are so nice and there just to have a good time. i can talk to anybody, and ive meet a lot of people, mostly because of my glowsticking. thats the way ive been meeting people.

some people have told me, i need variety, i just tell them, there's other things than trance WITHIN the EDM rhelm. i listen to those also.

Trance/Tech Trance/Dark Prog-Tech house means the world to me...I don't know how I can go on a regular basis without this musik. I pretty much breathe EDM...it's all I listen to and it brings me to good moods if I'm pissed or sad. It's like a religion...even spiritual if you must. I feel it's different then what's typically out there...when I have trance blasting in my car and people look at me weird it feels even better. It's a passion. lol.

Yeah, some prog is good, like Gabriel and Dresden singles and shit like that, but not all. I especially despise that sleepy slow low BPM prog crap that a few certain DJs who shall remain nameless play. If I wanna sleep fast I'll just crush up a trazadone and snort that shit up, at least it'll be less ruthless on me than that sleepy prog.

absolutely...it just sounds good to hear u say that u like it....but yes i can see where u might not like some of the less energetic stuff..GnD for sure though !!!!

I got into the music as far back as 1999, thanks to this:

Sasha - Xpander
Paul van Dyk - Avenue
Orbital - Know where to run

I STILL have this game, it's extremely sentimental to me.

I hit my first EDM event in the same year at the now defunct Club Salvation in South Beach, and saw Naline and Kane there. They performed Beach Ball live. In between 1999 and 2002 I mainly downloaded tracks and sets, but 2002 was my first official clubbing/partying year.

i like all kinds of edm. trance will always be my first love tho. the music is just so emotional, so human. its happy, sad, dark, deep, nostalgic, energetic, therapeutic, to name a few attributes. nothing can give you the shivers like some good trance, or make you go absolutely ape shit with energy dancing, or turn a bad day into a better one. i like house tho when i feel like grooving, its like a good time buddy to me, not quite as emotional as trance, just very pleasant for the ears. trance is my mistress, and house is my fraternity brother, is the best way i can put it. good thread liquid x

a, fucking! men!! i couldn't have said it better than that. When I'm in my car blasting PVD people are like wtf. And when they look at me doing all these weird movements with my hands while i'm driving they make some funny ass faces!! In all seriousness though, I breathe EDM. I just wish i had more friends that did the same thing. EDM is life for me. It's beautiful!!! Every genre, frome techno to happy hardcore!! I live for this.......
