Dancing Dude Smirnoff Experince (Review)

Holly CRAPP !!! That party was well worth $25.00. Production, lighting and decore was just simple excellent. Guv and Kool Haus was tranformed into a totally new club.

1)Got into the line about 12:15am and it looked seriously long, but it well organized and move very quickly. I got into the clubb within' 20mins

2) Got a complimentary drink flyer once you got passed the ticket check point. " Wow, are you for real ?" I asked the chick that was handing them out. Saw my close buddies in line for coat check and got my winter jacket checked within' 30sec and the line was really long.

*** Ran to the tunnel to try to get in the GUV for the TA meeting and the security has confirmed to not let anyone in. I wasn't too happy about that !!!***

3)Dave Ralph was on the decks, I didn't like his set at all ... due to the fact it was all progressive. He mixed in afew tracks that was progressive breaks and that cheer me up.

4)Started to drink and soon after I was pretty drunk. LOL At this time Green Velvet was on and it was ok, Kenny Glasgow was MCing to his set and to me ... really ruined it. But I was too drunk at this point to care.

5)Well, at this point of time, the party was ok ... I was happy but dissapointed b/c I didn't get to go into the GUV. DJ Dan came on and wow... I was very suprised. He was kickin' in the phat beats and I was suprised that it was HARD !!! I saw him at Connectedv4 and he stunk the big one. Now I understand why ppl love him. DJ Dan is simple wicked and from one of my most hated DJ before, now have become ... one of my fav DJ.

6) When I left the party .. the first thing that came into my mind was to get the WinterGalactic 2002 preflyer. Went upto the fyler whores and said " OK, where is the WinterGalactic prefyler ? Don't bother given' me anything else, b/c it's useless to me !!! "

The VIBE was amazing all night long. It felt like all the old school party-goers have all united under 1 clubb and for 1 night. Just like back in the days I started. I even saw afew middle school friends I haven't seen in 8 yrs !!! The whole freakin' city was there !!!

The Bads ...
- Didn't get to hear any trance in the Kool Haus tonight.
- It was way to "rammped" packed and it was a fire hazard
- Getting back my winter jacket from coat check ... insanely shitty. * Waited for 30 mins and afew smelly GINO's in front of me to make the matter worse then it was. Coat check should of had more ppl working ... to insure a fast and smooth departure.*

Special thanks goes to ...

Rebecca, Will (Mr.Furious AKA Man Whore) Jodi, Denver, Daniel, Karen, Dan, Thuy, Dave, Yoshi, Roy, Ian,Dan * Happy Birthday Massive* (Zirca),Melia,Allie and the others which I've met the first time and forgotten their names ... due to the fact I was too drunk and the system was Kickin' LOUD.
Special thanks to all of you for making the night was it was ... very BAD ASS indeed !!!

GoodNight Everyone

Tons of fun, good to see everyone out. I just have to learn that working from 6am-2pm, then running around taking care of things, then driving to Toronto and on top of all that smoking lots of nugs makes for one tired guy. I was battling to dance all night, but still managed to do so.

Now, we must prepare for wintergalactic!

Peace,
Steve

i got there at 10:30 pm. i've been to government several times but i've never seen kool haus before. it looked amazing. what a very classy venue...and well decorated by smirnoff.

it was a very good evening, but i have to say that the highlght of my night was deko-ze. i loved his set...and the guy was so full of energy. he really seemed to be loving it all. it got me pumped. i saw a little bit of tall paul and dave ralph. paul was spinning some kickin' tracks. i looked forward to seeing green velvet. it was very original. i've never seen anything like him before. i was waiting to hear "the flash" but i don't think he performed it. i didn't get to see any of dj dan 'cause i had to take off. my girlfriend had the flu and wasn't feeling very well. it was a really good night. a lot of fun.

i saw a few guys with TA t-shirts on but didn't get a chance to say hi. maybe i'll see you all at the next one.

it was an awesome night!

that was one crazy party...the music was really good, but the crowd wasnt. lots of gino types, and rude people who dont say excuse me when trying to get by...

anyway, got to the guv complex around midnight, only to find a massive line up! but it moved really quick which was good. got inside, and was handed 2 free drink tickets! i got over to the coat check, only to find that i had to go to the guvernment to check my coat. that was a mission in and of itself what with the insane amount of people there.

they had these steel fence things right near the guv coat check to control the crowd, and people were pushing up against it cause they wanted to get by, it was nuts, i thought there was gonna be a riot.

i heard dave ralph's set, it was pretty good, but i was hearing it while waiting at the bar forever to get drinks! green velvet was good, he is one crazy freak. he did play 'flash' but it was hard to make out the vocals cause they were kind of distorted. went to kool haus after velvet to catch nick warren, and he killed it! the lighting, lazers, and sound in the guv were all spectacular, as was warrens set, but again, too many people and not too many manners.

left after warrens set only to wait at coat check for 30 mins to get my coat...what a nightmare.

all in all though, a good night!

steve.

Talking what a blast I had!!!!!!!!!!!

This was by far one of the best parties this year (well there were ofcourse a few fuck ups about it as well).

Got to the parking lot at 10pm, ran to the line-up @ around 10:10 was looking for 'tranner' and his brother for about 10 min or so. They showed up and we got in after waiting for about 20 min or so. The security guards were kind of bitchy!
Got in got the complimentary drink flyer. WOW! Corporate sponsorship all the way! (LOL! maybe not!)
Waited about 5 min to get my coat to the coat check. (No fuck ups from them this time, they lost my sweater when I was there last time )
Walked around the whole Guv. complex, it looks very spacious at 10:30pm! LOL!
Went to check out the Guv and Matt C was spining, some house was nice for a warm-up. But than, when I got back to the KoolHaus I was trying to figure out how the fuck they though De-Koze was good as an opener? I mean this guy should be the headliner! What a banging fucking set. Played some nice tracks progressive tracks 'New Order - Crystals (Lee Combs Mix), BPT - Moody'. I danced my ass off! Ran into Viceroy, TranceXtacy, Cloud9 + his bro, and Swamper. Reminded them all that the meet up was at the Acid Loung @ 12:30.
Danced my ass off a little more.
So at around 12:15 I remember 'the meet up is at 12:30' so I rushed to the Orange Room to get to the GUV, and what do ya know! The guards were not letting anyone in for about 10 min. So I had to wait, than with this line-up it took me like 20 more min to get into the GUV. And all for what? Just to find my self squeezed like a sardine in a can. MAN, was this place packed or what. Ran into some TA's again. TALL PAUL was playing some weird shit. So anyway they tell me that there is no one at the meet up spot. So I was like fuck. I tryed to get back into the KoolHaus the same way I came in, but guess what? YOu had to go through the outside to get back to the KoolHaus. Took me about oh another 30 min or so! WTF! Now I understand why it was so packed. The retards closed the coat check at the KoolHaus and all those people that arived late had to go through the GUV to the coat check. Can you say 'disorganised'!
Got back to the KoolHaus was looking around for my friend, he disapeared. So I tryed to dance to the sounds of Dave Ralph, but he just did not do it for me. He played some progressive breaks, which was kind of cool. I met Andre from non other than SONIC STATE, had a little chat with him. He is such a nice guy! I made a promise to my self, I am not going back to the GUV, it was just way too packed. So I stayed around for the rest of Dave Ralph's set, and he played a really nice tune. Don't know what it was had a really nice vocal was almost like uplifting trance. He played it like 4 songs before the end of his set. Can anyone ID it????
Than Green Velvet, I was looking forward to hearing 'Flash, La La Land', but as soon as the whole thing started. I was like "man what the fuck is this shit", I could not hear any vocals what so ever, all I heard was just a deep bass. So I was like, fuck all this I am gonna go home. LOL! Just kidding, but I almost felt that way. So I was like what the fuck do I have to loose? So I took of to the GUV, to my surprise there was no line up at all to get into the GUV. I walked in and what do you think I hear? "DJ's, Fans and Freaks", so I was like has Nick Warren gone absolutely insane!!!!!!!! Not that I don't like Blank and Jones. LOL! Than I looked at the schedule and it was none other than John Kelly! What a DJ! I only caught the last half hour of his set! But he was totaly just rocking the place! What a blast I had, to him playing a bunch of classics!!!!!!!! And than he puts on a bootleg of 'Energy 52 - Caffe Del Mar'. Man I just fucking melted right there!!! It's like I almost had an orgasm!! LOL!
Simply put John Kelly ROCKS!!!!!
Than I bumped into 'Kaitracid' we had a really nice chat. Remeber meeting yoy at Tiesto@KoolHaus! Man those light shows that you guys put on was amazing!!!!!!!! Than I ran into HanSolo. Nice to meet you finaly bro!
Than I ran into RuffRyda and Evmac, always nice to see you guys represent!!! Than I ran into everyone else! it's like a big TA meet up all over again! Arcticboy happy b-day once again! Hope you had a blast! Nick Warren simply dominated, I loved every single progressive part of it! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Than I just danced my ass off once again and chatted a little more with all of you TA's! The highlight of the night was when I was handed a CD by some girl, it's a Smirnoff Experience CD, with tracks from Tall Paul, De-Kooze, Matt-C + more!
Than at around 5am I was just way to tired and had to leave, I was really slippy and tired, and have to work at 4pm - 11pm tonight.

Overall I would have to say that I had as much fun as I did at the Wintergalactic this Feb, when Tiesto was here. If not more!

Surely there were a few sweatty gino's and some ppl that pushed, but I did not care about that at all. I had so much fun being around all the other TA's!

P.S. Swamper I have to thank you once again, for creating a community like this for all of us! thanx! always nice to see you represent!

What a night, I must say that it was a kicken night with a few problems. Got there at 12:30 and had line bypass which was a lifesaver, then I go to the coat check in the koolhause and the bouncer wouldn't let me in even though he let the 5 people in front of me in. Then I had to go to the guv to coat check and that almost took me a full half hour, that really pissed me off and I thought it was gonna be a shit night. But every DJ just rocked in my opinion except for Green Velvet who I didn't understand and just heard pure bass. The crowd was alright, all types of people, a few sweaty gino's but not as many as normal, some unbelievably hot girls showing as much skin a possible. The one thing that pissed me off was that you could only get smirnoff shit at the bar, thats fahqed, my friends couldn't even get a beer, I think thats just going to far. But other than that it was a great night, the music was wicked no matter what room I was in and I even met a couple of TA's who were dancing up a storm. Without a doubt one of the best parties of the year

Posted by Retepic on Dec-21-2001 23:42:

I heard the budget for this party was $800,000! That's crazy shit..
Well the production was top notch, wikked decor. Only complaint would be coat check way too long, and can't get anything else to drink but smirnoffs. Well at least they were free. And the guv crowd...not my scene. The kool haus crowd was wasn't bad, not to mention alot nicer in there. Nick Warren, was awesome, first time seen him live. Dj Dan was pumpin. Green Velvet was great, but the vocals got annoying after awhile. All in all, good times, thanks to all the hot chicks around me..lol. Left at 5am to flyer in the freezing cold. It was well worth it tho to see peoples' reaction when they got the WG2002 preflyer. Thanks for the support!

peace..

pete

Wink Damn those Vodka boys know how to throw a good party

What can i say...I almost didn't make it out to this party and i have to say that it was well worth the $35 i had to shell out. Guverment had it's share of problems like access from room to room but the music and the vibe more then made up for it. I was looking forward to switching from the trance and house areas but after my first attempt which had me in a tight line for almost 30 mins i gave up and just hung out in the trance room, and it turned out to be the right choice

Shouts out to all the TA's I met...I would love to list you all here but i know i'll prolly forget someone...but u know who u are...thanx for making it an incredible night out...yesterday just proved to me how both the right people and the right music can blend to make a perfect party.

Finally a comment on the DJ's...have to say that i was really looking forward to Warren and Dave Ralph the most but the guy who really blew me away was John Kelly...what can i say about this guy except that he HAS to come back. His set was simply brilliant with old classics as well as new progressive trax. Cafe del Mar....hmmmmm...pure euphoria

Anyway...all this has done is given me a huge hardon for wintergalactic

C U ALL THERE

Indeed a good time last night - the free drink thing was cool - but the lack of anything but smirnoff was a bit facist almost! LOL

Green velvet kicked ass - if it surprised anyone - you shoulda listened ahead of time - it was really kick ass techy-industrial-new wave sorta sounding - which im my opinion is some seriously good shit!

The gvt was stupid rammed... I hate that scene - the koolhaus was really UK'ishly decorated - but I dunno very corporate - but I guess what can you do? The only DJ set that really did anything for me was DJ Dan - what a killer old school set! YAY! And John Kelly was throwin down some entertaining UK styles on tha decks.

All and all good times with the peeps - thanks!

Overall a pretty good night. Started off in a good manner, saw the massive line up all the way down the street, but one of my buddies secured me a spot near the front. This chick also hooked us up with well priced tickets while waiting in line. As I got inside I was mesmorized by the beautiful decor of the Kool Haus. The smirnoff guys did a really good job in that department. Ran into Trancearmada, and another TA who's name I forgot (sorry). Saw this really hot chick (long platinum blode hair, well tanned, massive tits) WOW, one of the hottest girls I seen in a long time. All the meanwhile Deekoze was spinning some pretty nice stuff.
From there I proceded to the Guvernment, and It was also very altered from its original presence. Again, great decor, love the trip screens. LOL The Guv. was a little chaotic but I kind of expected that. Anyways, I have to send a shout out to all the TA I met, Swamper, DieTcocaine (it was cool hanging with you man, hope you had a good time at Comfort Zone), Raverfriendly, hansolo, and articboy (man I'm really glad I ran into you it was awesome chilling with you, and once again HAPPY B-DAY!!!). I know that I also ran into some other TAs, and I apologize for forgetting your names (nothing personal).
As for the music, well it was the not best but it was ok I guess. Deekoze was good, Tall Paul was ok, John Kelly and Nick Warren were probobly the best of the night for me. I'm really an epic type of guy, so I really did not loose my self in the moment like I have in the past with Tiesto, AVB, and Gielen. Green Velvet was just terrible in my opinion! Dave ralf was not that good either. I don't want any wars starting over this, like I said before these are just my personal subjective opinions.
Nevertheless, it was a fun night, ok music, nice decor, great peeps, and a nice vibe. On the downside, for the second consecutive party (AVB being the previous) I lost my coat check ticket. Needless to say I was the last person out of the GUV.!!

Take care guys, and see you at the next party!

Well been up for 2 days now.. time to go to bed.

Oh yeah some guy named nick warren owned that place

Posted by hansolo on Dec-22-2001 04:09:

I had a fun ass time at this party. It was nice to be in an environment where it was just full of so many party people. John kelly kicked ass and Dj dan kept me movin hard for a while.

what up to all the TA's i met, articboy, trancearmada, transexstacy,
kai tracid, swamper, and anyone else I met.

Cant wait for ordanel.

Opps ... Correction. Green Velvet ruined his own set. Not really big on Techno and the only DJ that admire that spins Techno is Mauro Picotto

couldn't agree with you more. the guy was great. my friend who lives in guelph says that deko-ze spins at a small club there all the time. i think i'm going to check him out next time he is there. i loved his set on thursday night. i recognized a few track but i was hoping that someone could add the my list.

new order - crystal (lee combs remix)
express 2 - smoke machine
delerium - underwater (hydrogen rockers remix) <-- [best mix of the track imo]

Shame / Disagreement Best Night Ever

WOW, that was a night to remember!!
The atmosphere was perfect. It seems that everywhere I turned, I either saw smiling faces or HOT ass chicks; that really encourages you to have a fuk'n great time. But offcoarse the best part of the night was the music. Everyone was great, but Nick Warren blew the fuk'n house down.
Based on an overall scale, this was probably the best party that I've been to in 2001. Thats just my oppinion.

Was up to all the TA's I met - Trancearmada, DieTcocaine (Had your glow stix most of the night, lol), always a pleasure meeting Swamper, articboy (Love partying with you man, and HAPPY B-DAY, nobody told me!) and finally - Kai Tracid (Couldnt get enough of your AMAZING lightshows. Next time teach me some sick moves
I know I missed some of you. Just can't remember your names

Anyways I hope everyone had as much fun as I did!!

Hmmm,,,was it me?? We had 5 flyer hoes handing them out...you definately got one of us tho. It was funny, we swamped people with flyers, most people walked away with more than one...sometimes 5...if it was a hot looking chick..

mmmmmMMm meat.....

no the poll was not on the flyer. Only the website is printed on the flyer. The preflyer is meant to make people aware of the event and drive people to website to make selections.

That was a great party. I was suprised that it was so packed...I guess not that many people had to work on Friday!

All the regular problems were encountered with attending a venue at the Guv/Koolhaus like coatcheck lines, crowded, sweaty people but all in all it was a really good party with a decent vibe.

Caught the end of Dave Ralph's set and it was a great warmup. Next up was Green Velvet and I was totally suprised with what I heard! It was so different but still hype!

I headed over to guvernment after Green Velvet to check out the man himself - Nick Warren and he totally blew my expectations away! He was so much better compared to his performance at System - I guess a big venue is more what he's used to play.

After that Mark Oliver stunk it up for an hour and brought the energy level down and drove the nice-looking girls away! Anyone noticed how all the nice girls left around 5 AM ??

By that time I was wrecked and couldn't wait to head home, except that I had to wait in the coatcheck line for an hour! Brutal!

Excellent night except for not being able to get a brewsky and all the lines. I wanted to check out the Acid Lounge and say hi but I got in around 1 AM. next time...

Posted by dieTcocaiNe on Dec-24-2001 03:02:

Jester what can I say.........

Finally got down to write my review.
Got to the Guv by 12:00 and when I saw the lineup, I was anxious that I will miss the 12:30 meetup(which I did). Well, got in at about 12:45 and took another 20 minutes for coat check. Finally went in to the Kool Haus. I was totally blown away, what a decor the screens were awesome. Then met the first TA who I ever met and guess who it was "Swamper" himself !!(nice to meet ya man). Dave Ralph was playin at that time, he was not bad but the sound system at Kool Haus isn't that great, especially if your used to the Phazon at the Guv. Then bumped into a group of TA's....TranceXtasy(yea man great hangin out with you), Cloud9, Bliss'n'Trance(ur's and Kytracid's light shows were awesome ) the funniest was when you ur hands couldnt stop even after the party, just moving unconditionally hahahaa), Kytracid(fun hangin out with you), ArcticBoy(had a great time man) and maybe some more whos names I don't remember.
Reading from the reviews, I can see that there were atleast 20 TA's who attended, but I didn't meet more than 6-8, maybe next time.
Heard a little of Green Velvet, got a bit irritated and left for the Guv where John Kelly was finishing his set, WOW, man that guy just made me go bizerk!!, then Nick Warren(I dont have words for his performance) the lights, the phazon, the screens and everything. The vibe was awesome. I was a bit disappointed when the party ended at around 6:30, wanted it to go an hour or so more

All in all probably the best party I've been to this year, the coat check and moving between Kool Haus and Guv were the bad parts, also that I fell once between the small space between the stairs to the skybar/drink and the woofer/podium right next to it while handing my glowsticks to a chick on the stairs(what an embarrasment), bruised my arm but it could have been worse.

Thanks to all TA's who came out and made the night well worth it. Next I'm going to Guy Ornadel on the 19th and then Wintergalactic.
See ya guys there.

Posted by Abbas on Dec-24-2001 07:19:

I have to say it was quite a fun night!!

I didn't get to check out all the performances because it was hard to move around at time so I decided to stick to one place, which was the Guvernment......

John Kelly........OMG!!!

I have to say he played a very nice set that made the crowd go nuts......it was a very nice time of the nite!

it was alot of fun, and can't wait for Wintergalactic
(vote Marco V! )

KICK ASS NIGHT !!

Well what can i say, that was one amazing night, Smirnoff sure knows how to throw a party.

Well we got there around 11:00, there was a pretty big line-up but my friend had a good close spot secured so we got in in a few minutes. Got in, some hot chick put this orange thing over my neck, i soon learned that it was the set times for the night......cool. then i got a complementary drink coupon which was pretty sweet. Well next came coat check, shit what a pain in the ass, had to go to the Guv, waited in that damn tunnel for what seemed like a year, then we tried to go back to the KoolHaus only to find out that we had to go thru the outside, that took what seemed like another year. finally got to the Koolhaus, Deekoze was spinning a kick-ass set, so we stayed there until Green Velvet came on, they were terrible in my opinion..........so we left to the Guv, by now you can go thru the inside, which was nice, got there and Tall Paul was spinning the wickedest set, that's when i started to dance, then Nick Warren......... HOLY SHIT that man blew the roof off, he was incredible, he made me dance the rest of the night.

It was graet to meet all u TA's again, kytracid (your lightshow where fooking incredible, shit, you and my brother stole the show that night on the stage), trancearmada (too late u had to leave so early but i guess you gotta do what you gotta do),Swamper (always good to see you), Arcticboy, shit I was looking for u all night, finally u found us at like 4:00 am, good to see u again, and happy B-Day once again, and all the other TA's i met, sorry i forgot your names , hope u all had a great time.

Overall, I must say that this was one of the best nights I ever had, also the chicks were fooking AMAZING, did anyone else notice that?.

Well hope to party with all u once again soon.

Lates

P.S. Does anyone know if there were any TV crews there and if so is this going to be on TV? B/C there was a lineup for media outside so I'm just wondering.
