Lightbulb Pocket Rocket - Shore Thing (Ambia Remix)

I might not have shared anything since April, but that doesn't mean I'm dead.

I've got a remix to share of MaRt's 'Pocket Rocket - Shore Thing'. I'm not sure how many of you remember the housey original, but here's my interpretation of it anyway...

Pocket Rocket - Shore Thing (Ambia Remix)
(9:05, 12.4MB, 192Kbps)

I hope you enjoy it (or at least don't die listening to it). Comments would be very much appreciated...

-Joe

gorgeous track. some of the synths and pads sound a bit dry, but as a whole this is a very good track.. loving that tiny high-pitched melody you added @ 4:15

Posted by Steev on Sep-25-2005 09:09:

Thumbs up

very cool but I think it could have more stereo in it..Some pads and synths are way to "empty"

Hey!

Let's leave a review. You got some nice asskissing ones already so let's see if I can find something to flame

Yep found something! Kick for start sounds hollow, seems as if beefed up with verb. In the mix it's still noticable, maybe have another look.
Bass has the same taste to it. Seems too be a bit resonant because of this. Humming and wet. The color/character drowns a bit in it, pity cause i like the sound in the higer freqs of it.
Pads are ok, but played in a room just too small, if you understand what I mean. My choice would be to make them wider and a tad reverb with big room.
Mix is quite clear, everything stays hearable. Stereo image is there but it seems all widened the same way from the middle. It's ok to pan the synths too, just a tad especially the less 'important' ones to your liking.

These things mentioned, I'm fond of the overall work, nice atmosphere, no real big hook found after 1 listen but nice listen-away. Keeper.

Thanks for taking the time to listen guys!

Really like this one Joe, lovely break and sweet soft feel about it. Nice use of the piano and soft pluck behind it, I like that! I do reckon some elements could use more wetness, though it doesn't seem too apparent in the whole mix.

Nothing really wrong with it I think, can't really point anything out other than perhaps the fact that the bass is a little 'flat'. Though on the other hand I feel it fits the sort of track you have going.

Carry on with this stuff, me likes!

Hedgehogs are cool. Sounds really good, nice chillout sound to it, I think. Nice work.

Great job joey!!

Just suggesting u might wanna work on the bass abit more to make it more intresting
The kick is also abit annoying u EQed it very wierd so maybe replace it to a "Circle" , more Punchier kick

all the best , Maor

* listening *

i like that congo`s there, nice variation in the bass and beat, nice piano synth and bass progression, im not a personal fan of piano sounds in general, a new lead enters, nice "trancy" sound, another more subtle melody in the background there, pretty cool.. there`s a breakbeat going on, to give the track a little break i guess, the piano enters again, i think its a bit dry in the mix (but again, i hate pianos )

nice track, could have needed some small cleanups in the mix and the bass

8/10

i agree with the comments on the kick and the bass.
other then that.... i love it nice work joe!

Posted by Mycron on Sep-30-2005 15:04:

i agree with the others about the bassline, other than that this is very nice mate, quite like it

keep it up!

Hey Joe!!

I'm diggin this a lot - the bass teases in the beginning were great

The low end sounds a bit muffled, but it may just be my shitty-ass headphones.

The piano is sweet.. the whole breakdown is good for the soul!

Fine work all around.

Hope you are keeping well,
Trev

I will have to say I concur with Jay in almost all , also I would give more presence to the piano adding a bit more of highs and reverb, I liked the selection of sounds for the rbeak! other than that I dont know the original, but this sounds pretty good, good work mate .
Kopi =o.

A very good piece of work.

Not sure if it's been said before but the mix sounds very centered and doesn't give much room to breathe. Simple panning would sort this.

Can't stand the voice synth either, just sounds wrong to me.

Other than that great work.

Cheers
Nem

Yeah the kick is noticed very wet in the begining, but once everything is in the roaster it sounds ok.
The piano sounds a bit dry and liveless, some boost in the mid-highs would help to give more color to it.

Melodic wise, is a good track, but nothing outstanding.

Hi

Hmmmm... can't put this one down... Getting a strange feeling of a total collapse or blend of Chicane, (whats his name in the mid 90's with that boring) Children and Funky 70's disco.... (yall know YMCA)... How on earth did you do it????

At the same time it really does work and gives the track an originality that will not be found even once a year...

As some of the others already suggested it needs some mastering/editing...

Your friendly ghost of Mozart.
