Sex Toys at Wal-Mart

quote:
Better believe it. Shoppers Drug Mart, the country's largest drugstore chain, Wal-Mart Canada and a slew of other stores have entered into agreements to stock their shelves, coast to coast, with a new line of sex toys, discreetly called "sexual well-being products."

The move is especially surprising for Wal-Mart, which doesn't sell video games rated "adult-only" and recently removed a magazine from one of its stores after a customer complained that it was too sexual.

I can see it now..

"mommy, mommy.. can I get this??"

Seriously though.. what is up with that? does Wal-mart really need to sell EVERYTHING?!?!?!

Yes, soon it will put all adult "mom n' pop" stores out of business.

wtf?!?!

The "sexual well-being products" must have better margins than the adult-rated video games.

It's gonna be hella embarassing putting one of those on the conveyor belt in front of the cashier, with about 20 people behind seeing exactly what you are buying.

^^

I say that's the whole fun of it.. I'd buy the stuff just to see the look on people's faces

Sex is, if not, the biggest selling product/organization on this planet. But I think their going to far with this. Kid's shouldn't know what toys are, not these kinds from what I know, on this continent anyways.

Posted by Jayx1 on Sep-25-2005 18:37:

let them sell whatever.... quit being prudes. Id rather my kid know what a dildo is than play with a weapon or watch a violent movie.

Preferably he/she would know of neither until a certain age but thats just not possible i guess.

Posted by DarkAngel on Sep-25-2005 18:39:

You have GOT to be kidding me.

Posted by Jayx1 on Sep-25-2005 18:49:

you know that north american society is the only place in the western world where sex on tv is taboo but violence is virtually ok. Pretty much everywhere else it's usually the reverse and i find society's view on sexuality in those places to be much healthier

Pfft. TV violence does't affect you in any way. I watch tons of violent movies, and I'm fine ... I just like to strangle puppies sometimes ... For fun ... But that's nothing to be concerned about - everybody needs to vent.

Hahaha, I wouldn't find it embarassing at all. If you're gonna buy it and enjoy it, why be embarrassed about it. I sure as heck wouldn't.

I laugh when some guy friends are too 'embarrassed' to buy Playboys or whatnot. What a joke. Don't be ashamed.

My chick friends will also often ask how I 'get up the nerve' to actually buy porn magazines. This question seriously almost baffles me. I can't understand why it would be an embarassing or 'difficult' situation.

one thing that travelling has tought me is that our society is incredibly prudish. This is why i laugh whenever somebody tries to tell me that canada is a liberal thinking country.

Coming from the guy with the permanent wife-beater tan, I can understand how public opinion means little or nothing to you.

Yup. I dont see why that is anything to be embarrassed about - the same w/ chicks who complain about bikini tans lines. Am I honestly expected to be embarrsed about getting sun on part of my body but not the rest because I didnt want to take off my wifebeater? It's also one less part of my body I then have to worry about getting sunburnt on at all (which would hence lead to further increased chances of skin cancer later on down the road).
