i dont think there is really much to discuss here.

i think it will be good for melbourne. not that many ppl will tune in to it. it has a good time slot though

Posted by 00soups00 on Oct-04-2005 02:20:

personalyl i think its a very good thing, but as jolz pointed out, just a little late.. ASOT is no longer in its hayday..

pidgeonholed.. LOL

i spose its a good thing for trance and melbourne - yeah asot aint what it once was (or maybe it is still the same - and we are the ones who have changed), but ahh well - everyone into dance knows who armin is and what hes all about, should be good for all of us in the long run

Posted by eRRaTiK on Oct-04-2005 03:47:

i'm with pana. throw on some local talent instead of ASOT rubbish.

We don't need to promote Armin. He's got his own publicity machine to do that.

Posted by Light The Fuse on Oct-04-2005 03:49:

there already is a LOT of local talent on kiss now tho' - whats wrong with having the biggest dance music show worldwide on there as well?

Posted by kelsta on Oct-04-2005 03:50:

I'll tune in

Posted by Aesthetic on Oct-04-2005 03:52:

nah i dont see anything wrong with it. always said i love avb.. what i cant stand is the dj's who just rip off his and tiesto's playlists and call themselves "upfront".

when armin plays a track, its cool. when johnny dj x 5000 plays it, he's a tool.

i should make that a bumper sticker.

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Oct-04-2005 04:14:

wont make any difference to moi. tassie still doesnt have radio

i see what youre saying, but i still dont see why its any different to ripping off anyone elses playlists (thanks everyone! ) and tbh i love a good theft! so much more fun and rewarding than buying based on samples.

since so many quality tunes pass thru those 2 notables' fingertips, id hate to have to try & find decent tunes that *havent* been played by them at one stage or another. there aint enough quality out there as it is....

youd make quality bumper stickers im sure the kind that make ppl laugh so hard they cause an accident.

exactly, people should develop their own style instead of following the fkn big jocks or playing evey record off the Armin labels. who cares what tune you play as long as it sounds good and gets you dancing. better if no one else has played it anyway IMO.

& yes ASOT on Kiss is obviously not a bad thing.

Posted by Dr P on Oct-04-2005 08:28:

wow pana has dropped off the raydar...

anyway, anything that exposes people to dance music is good right?

So people find out they can hear Armin on radio in melb they listen to more stuff on that station and then might go out to see those dj's, live and in person.

I mean Kiss FM is the only reasn I know who Sean Quinn is. Its the reason I went to GateCrasher at the docks and stayed till the light was creeeping in.

So it can't be bad exposure for the radio station. Am I wrong?

we need this up hear in brizzy, it would save me d/ling it every week ASOT not in it's haydays? sure it is, hence why all the diff country's are liscencing it too play on there stations.

Posted by The_Jolt on Oct-04-2005 10:54:

Do u have the link for the info on inthemix.com.au?

Are you talking the new shows or the old ones repeated

that is incorrect.

the reason why all the countries are now playing it on their stations is because ASOT was dumped by ID&T for whatever reason. Once it was dumped by them an international broadcasting company purchased the rights to ASOT and then re-sells the show. So it was a business move which has now made ASOT a world wide radio show, certainly nothing to do with how good the show is now..

it used to be so much better...

"the newest tunes selected... the hottest tracks in a row..."

"armin van buuren.. in the mix.."

its a shame the two parts were scrapped

I'm sure tiesto had something to do with with banning of ASOT on ID&T

No we havent really changed, that much, just gotten a little more picky thats all. Probably due to the terrible slump halfway through last year and the beginning of this year, where most of the tunes were just crap (ask any trance DJ who tried to put a decent promo together during this time). Producers have finally got there arses in to gear ...

Lets start an Anti-Tiesto alliance ..

Really though, how can this be a bad thing? At least ASOT is commercial enough to be accessible to the non trancer, with out beeing TOO cheesy, I guess. It's the best way to get people more inclined to go out and support locals who play a similar sort of sound.

btw what episode are we up to?

Posted by Lister Cooray on Oct-04-2005 23:26:

Hey V i think that was jules talking about us changing not me lol!

We are up to episode 215 or something like that.....i'll be in on your anti-tiesto campaign hehe

Posted by 00soups00 on Oct-04-2005 23:33:

this thursday will be episode 217..

and yes, it is GOOD for trance for it to be more accessible, however i think it would be better for the 'education' of people listening to have the shows format what is once was.. with interviews, and future favourites, and tune of the weeks, and talking and stuff in first hour and a non stop mix in the 2nd.

ahh well

Totally agree.

Punters dont need education when they go out to clubs, .. they either like what they hear or they dont. Like a wise man once said .. for a DJ go out and play with the intention of educating a crowd, simply suggests that they dont know what they are listening to and what they are and like listening to is crap ... it just insults their taste and intelligence ... thats just my opinion

Membership fee for the anti Tiesto-Alliance is $2.99

thats US dollars too

If i recall correctly ASOT was dumped from ID&T due to problems with its radio licence. Some other things happened with ID&T aswell, i heard the lable and radio station (now known as Fresh FM) split for some reason. Armin had always done ASOT for free for ID&T which makes you wonder if any of this was the real reason.

Anyway, I dont see anything wrong with him getting air time over here, I just wonder if the ASOT epis will be a week behind or not because of the difference between out broadcast times and the US/EU broadcast times. If not we'll hear them before anyone else .

Posted by 00soups00 on Oct-05-2005 03:52:

i wouldnt get ahead of yourself there scottie

we'll be 6days behind the rest of the world for sure

no way we'll hear the episods before anyoen else

because they're still officially licensed to be the first broadcast with DI.FM and we cant be broadcasted to before them
