Looks awesome but I can tell you right now my poor aging PC will not be able to handle this. I seriously need to upgrade...

3d shooters are getting waaayyy too redundant, nothing new except slightly better graphics..

It doesnt look that good, and I've read that the campaign is finished rather quickly... and I can't play it on my computer anyway.

i like it. multiplayer is more or less the same as q3, but when rocket arena comes out, who cares?

yeah, the multiplayer seems a nice blend between 2 & 3. thats a good thing imo coz Q3 was the perfect unrealistic shooter. it doesnt look to add much more than doom from a complexity perspective, but tbh i find doom & quake's simplicities to be a great strength.

I love it! I've always been a fan of id games and Quake 4 is no exception at all, even though it basically is Quake 2 with the Doom engine. Yes, the multiplayer definitely reminds me of Quake 3 Arena, but as some have stated, Q3A will probably go down as, over-all, one of the best FPS' ever.

I'll admit that story-line wise, I enjoyed Half Life 2 far more (in terms of depth) but Quake 4 is still on par. The graphics are amazing if you have a high-end PC to showcase the engine.

Overall, I give it 8/10. I'll probably wrap it up this week so I can get back to Age of Empires 3 and F.E.A.R

Wow what a boring game, I can't believe I waited for this.

F.E.A.R. may be an easy game but it's leaps and bounds ahead of Quake 4

uhhhh yawn boooooooooRING.

Haven't tried it, but gonna give it a go, but after F.E.A.R, I heard it was really amazing, especially the graphics.

HL2 in my opinion is easily the best single player fps out there. rarely does a game cause me to form an emotional connection with the characters but hl2 does such a great fucking job... their facial expressions and everything!

and for multiplayer, my vote goes to battlefield 2.
great graphics + mmo + smooth gameplay = good multiplayer game

/fanboy rant (i rarely endorse something like that, though so... yeah)

Best FPS as far as realism and depth go: FarCry
Best FPS as far as plot goes: Half Life 2
Best run and gun FPS goes: Quake

Physics : hl2
Simplest yet fulfilling: doom3
