lol, what was the last king unique set you listened to?

angello & ingrosso have pushed electro further than most other stab synth producers have. they went back to electro's roots... in da basslines

no they haven't. electro's roots aren't in basslines. heck, a lot of electro between 1975 and 1990 didn't even have a bassline. you haven't the slightest clue what electro's roots are in. if you want to figure it out, listen to the phil klein set i posted.

actually electro's roots are in many kraftwerk cuts, specifically the trans-europa-express LP. and maybe some early early YMO works. and they're not about the basslines, but the machinic bleeps tchaks beeps porps dung dung dungas kling kling klangs tweek tweeks, vocodeeers, and other crazy crap that would remind you of a future funky robot doing his laundry in outer space using a dryer from 1985. but that set will illustrate my point well enough.

also if you want some more electro sets just browse www.basswarp.com . now ain't that ironic. i might suggest dr. skunkensteins may headspace set on there.

i hide now for reals now really.

doze basslines are bumpin funky house evolved, basically grittier unfiltered synths.

99% of electro is uses the tr-808 and instruments that emulate the tr-808. matter of fact the very first track on record to use the 808 is electro. in other word yes, those sets are electro.

yeah i edited that out...it was kinda useless and retarded.

when i said "you" i meant everyone. im just tryin to understand exactly what electro is. ive heard many different definitions. thanks for that explanation though

Hi Radagast.

Did you forget that there is no sound in space?

wassup?

what does there being no sound in space have to do with what i said? i said, when you hear the sound (of electro), it would remind many of those things. not that there are sounds in space....

Posted by UWM on Nov-08-2005 16:21:

Yes, but no sound could remind you of a robot doing his laundry in space using a 20 year old dryer, since you couldn't hear what that sounds like in the first place.

Don't mind me, just being pedantic as per.

cheers, i've wanted something like this for a while to check what "real electro" actually sounded like. it's quite cool, at least different enough to freshen up my winamp playlist for a while. but i still prefer rex the dog, king unique and the likes are they just electroclash?

most of king uniques recent stuff sounds basically like what he's always made except now he adds a few bleeps and/or a rolling buzzing bassline, aka not electro, but prog house or something similar.

however.....rex the dog i believe does make some electro. not always though. for example, frequency/i look into mid air sound less like electro and more like some kind of pop house music or maybe even trance, who knows these days. basically what makes those tracks is a giant synth and a rollin', note changin' bassline. but prototype/we live in daddy's car both would probably qualify for electro. probably. and that's a fukin surprise, because 'tis rare that a standard 4/4 kick track is in fact electro.
