'05 rivals '99
There.. I said it. 2005 is by far #2 for best year for the trance genre, it could possibly be just AS good, maybe even better than '99. Good trance, I think. I had so much fun at the clubs. It was looking a little bad in the first and 2nd quarter. but then BAM!
AWESOME! 1 month to go! 1 month for more AMAZING songs!
2005 has been a shit year, imo
edit- trance wise has been shit...other genres haved kicked ass tho
99 > 05 (for me)
have you been smoking crack, 2005 has been terrible. trance has just dwelled down to where it's bound to hit soon, the point of it's ultimate low, i thought it was going to be this year but it's possible it's 2006. the fact is that the tracks being released lack in quality, ideas, punch and producers just seem to loose the plot. more tracks are being hollow and run of the mill productions. i always wondered where the 303 went in my trancemusic, it used to be essential, now you barely hear it. but that's because producers can't figure out how to put a decent acidemulator in reason. and also these goddamn remakes and update remixes. it's like it never stops, i reckon it's good updating a track or two, but when that track or two number becomes 200, then it's just silly. and then the inevitable, when going in yearreviews in trance you have to go talk about the big forces. well ok then.
actually nevermind, so much has been said over these months it's unnecessary.
do i still have hope for trance, no
will i still listen to it, probably
is it going to redeem itself and get back the glamour of the mid90's, yes, for the reason that all music goes in cycles. something has to go down if something else has to peak.
^ if i wasnt so damn lazy, thats what i woulda said
i think 2005 has been a good year...
even trance is good...but not the trance and artists that most people are going to refer to which is basically crap...
trancewise im not so sure.. but ive explored different genres in EDM this year which has made this year pretty good for myself
Maybe it isn't trance.
But songs like
Markus Schulz Feat. Depature - Without you near
Marco V - More than a life away
Dogzilla - Without you
Paul van Dyk feat. Wayne Jackson - The Other Side
OMFG I LOVE IT! ANd I am not really into vocals.
2005 = worst.year.ever... BY FAR (and I thought 1997 blew hardcore).
1994 = still the best year for trance ever IMNSHO.
Flamebait.
montana said essentially what I would. The year has been worse than even 2003.

| Originally posted by Floorfiller you know i used to think that 2002-2003 were kinda bad years...but there is actually a ton of great stuff from then as in every year...i just didn't do the research i do now...there is good stuff out there...people just need to look. find labels...find tracks...find other labels...it goes on forever hehe |
Good year.
aside from '99. the only years better than 2005 were '04......and '03, and '02, '01, '00, and 1993 for humate's love stimulation, and '98 for pvd's remix of binary finary's track by the same year.
Come now, how could '05 be a good year when the releases of tiesto's cd, pvd's cd (who i used to be #1 fan of, ok mebbe #2), and armin's cd were not exactly at the level of a Chicane artist album or Corsten's Innercity mix cd??
For the most part I have been into house n prog the last couple years but I still love trance, it just tends to be stuff '03 and older like classic Dumonde, drool drool.

| Originally posted by Cobalt I don't know, I recall 2003 as extremely polarized between epic fluff and super-deep progressive. The progressive wasn't bad, exactly; it was just got really boring after a while. It seemed that all the producers with any soul were determined at the time to slow the BPM and drop anything remotely melodic from their palette. 2002 struck me as pretty good on both sides of the rift; trance wasn't too empty, and progressive wasn't too sleepy. Yet. |

1999 will probably never be equaled but I bought joof's latest and it pwns.
In a contest of which is the worst year in trance history, they do rival each other quite nicely.
How could this year be any good when there wasn't a full length from the Godfather of Trance, Oliver Lieb.
I'm a 2002-03 kinda guy.

I agree with everything that Montana said, except that I have hope for Trance over the next couple of years. Someone's bound to have the guts to un-fuck it.
