wouldn't this have been better back in 2003? i mean i know it's a nice little chunk of money for you guys without having to come up with anything new and stuff, but this is tired...

I like what Jason said.

it should be post HERE

Very claver.
You don't even provide a low-fi sample so we'll have to buy the track.
You also don't give a midi so we must buy the track.
I, presonally think it's unfair.
If you want pepole to remix this then don't ask them to pay for it.

Omer.

Surely thats better as the remixes are more original.

look on HERE there may be one. If not then its easy enough to play with the vocal samples

I heard about this a little while back, I was told the track components were available for download in his forum (free of charge) for the purpose of this competition.

There is no midi there.
Trust me, I'll be original.

This is not aimed at you.

But tbh id be extremely worried if as a "producer" you couldnt make a track/remix around one element of a track.

I can remix it with just the vocals, but it won't be a remix.
It will be a totally new track.

Thanks for the heads up Rik

tbh unlike many people, mr tate has served a long & good enough apprenticeship to get a bit of extra cash now & then, he's proved himself adept at different types of trance, from the more commercial to the anthem & a lot inbetween

Instead of whining I'm going to give it a go.

The original doesn't really have a melody either, so...

I'll give it a go too but it's pretty stupid to ask us to buy the track and then remix it.
It's like, we want you to remix it but you'll have to pay for it.

Did you even check the forums where the guy directed you?
Cos like I said, I was under the belief the compnents of the track are there for download for the competition.

In fact, it was just confirmed for me. So how abouts you actually look and stop spreading shit?

you don't get what I've said then.
It has the parts.
But it has no sample of the track.
I think that a 96 kbps sample would be enough.
But instead they ask you to buy it 'if you'd like to hear the track'.

Hi guys,

If you visit the releases page on www.darrentate.com you can hear an mp3 stream of the entire track.

The reason we are not offering the midi parts is that we want you to be creative and focus your remix primarily around the vocal.

Hope this clears things up,
Rik

What key is it in?

It does,
But without the midi, I donnu if I can remix it.
Not that I can't be original. I'm just not musicly trained enough to make A REMIX without a midi file.
It won't sound like a remix.
It will sound like my own original track with the same vocals.
Since this is JUST MY STYLE it will perfectly fit for me cuz I produce acid/goa/whatever hehe I'll be able to get something from it, but not without a midi.
Not every producer can remix without it.

Omer.

how is this any different to others remixing tracks and adding "2005 remake" on the end of it. Besides whats so wrong with remixing older tracks, geez everyone is so caught up with the "that tracks old syndrome"
