Montreal vs Toronto

MONTREAL

The Good

Great restaurants
Joie de vivre
Bars close later
Better looking women
Easier commute
Home of bring your own wine restaurants
Bagels and smoked meat
Better strip clubs
Architecture

Pot holes the size of small European nations
Extreme weather
Fifth season - road construction
Higher taxes
Public strikes ever week
We're better than everyone attitude/inferiority complex

TORONTO

The Good

Warmer weather
Lots of former Montrealers live there

Second-best hockey team in Ontario
Lots of jobs
Great variety of ethnic food
Streetcars
More high-end shopping
Better concerts and theatre
Street food

The Bad

The "oh good it's Monday!" attitude
Traffic
Pollution
High housing costs
Needing the military to remove snow

'Living in Ottawa, having lived in Toronto for a few months, and seeing it all from a west coast perspective (Vancouverite back in the day), I've been waiting for such a thread.

Toronto:
-Hiphop and Rap/Alternative music city
-hotdog stands
-rooftop patios
-trendy clothing stores (mostly expensive)
-Brass Rail

Montreal
-EDM city
-poutine stands
-second-hand smoke (on its way out)
-trendy clothing stores (mostly good deals)
-Chez Par

In a perfect (Canadian) world, I would wake up in my Vancouver home, earn a paycheck with my Toronto job, then blow it all in Montreal's restaurants/clubs

Posted by Tag on Jan-14-2006 18:49:

Vancouver pretty much pwnez evryone, and montreal coming in a close 2nd.

sorry... but montreal is also a hip-hop rap city

which is too bad

Posted by malek on Jan-15-2006 00:19:

yeah i wanted to say the same.

And there's many many rooftop patios in town.

Posted by Spin Laden on Jan-15-2006 01:33:

yeah, I found a few. But in reference to the clubs, several clubs in TO have rooftop patios, didn't see that in Montreal. Please advise if there are any, 'love those.

Posted by Spin Laden on Jan-15-2006 08:52:

Yes, everywhere is a rap/hiphop city..even Tokyo! But compared to TO and Van.. I mean, where else would you find a 'suburban' afterhours joint like Redlite?? And Montreal's got the massives too.

As for rooftop patio bars.. yes, Club 737 is a good example. I can't think of too many others...

I would have normally agreed with you Malek, except for my past visit.. coming from Montreal where it was just damn bitter and the wind was going right through me.. to coming home where I was able to walk from my car to my condo without having to put on a jacket and it being pretty warm out..

I find Montreal much cooler than Toronto.. but that could just be me too

Posted by all-nite-freak on Jan-15-2006 18:42:

i like what you are trying to do jessie,
but when i saw your list it made me wonder if you are even from here...
silly n00b tricks are for kids

and Tag Vancouver pwns everyone?
why Stanley Park?
boring city....
much funner to party in Whistler than there.

Posted by zoogla on Jan-18-2006 03:43:

Toronto - The Good:

Montreal - The Bad:
- well, you get my point...
