The Official TOTA -- DVD Collector's -- Thread

If you're a big film buff like myself, you must have a dvd collection of some sort, and a list published somewhere. I want to see other fanatics like me out there, or at least with similar taste in film. I don't think that my collection is particularly that big, but from time to time, I get stuff from my wish list moved to my owned! So here is my list, published @ DVD Aficionado,

There's plenty more movies I'd like to get my hands on! But for the time being, I want to see what other TOTA's are into.

By the way, I just want to take the time to say that I will be finishing my first screenplay come September hopefully I'll share it when the time comes for those interested.

Okay! Post away people!

My Collection

I have a huge collection of Martial Arts flicks, old and new!

Shaw Bros. kick ass.

Great movie selection!

I love the PT Anderson movies - so bizarre but so good. I have Punch Drunk Love as well.

Same thing for Quentin tarantino - what great movies, Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp FIciton...

Lost half my DVD collection after a breakup with an ex...

Usual Suspects, Fight Club and Sin City - also some of my favs.

Minority Report is a good one... you should pick it up.
No Lord of the Rings??

Seems like you're more into the horror/drama genre cool stuff.

I'll add your link to the people I know, the best way to borrow stuff from eachother... but maybe once I get to know you first...

Sonny Chiba owns you!
I'd love to get my Martial Arts collection up, I'm working on it!

I'm so glad you noticed the P.T. Anderson influence, I love this guy & one of my favorite directors for sure, hands down!
Also, I have a big Tony Scott fascination, great lighting and more recently, editting/visual esthetics (i.e. Man on Fire). But Yeah Quentin Tarantino is awesome, my favorite movie (True Romance) which he wrote and directed by Tony Scott, fabulous to say the least. Christopher Nolan is pretty good too! Too good, too many!

Minority Report was ok, I just found it to be a little too dependant on the 'visuals' end of things rather than focusing some attention on emotion, characters, etc. It was too cold and bare at times, and it seemed out of place when so. I wouldn't mind getting it at one point down the line though.

Now, Lord of The Rings is not something I enjoyed at all! No offense to the fans of Jackson's, but I could not sit through so many hours of fight scenes after fight scenes with no evident continuity between any of them. It's an epic fantasy for sure, not my favorite genre, I just think it would be better left as a book.

Not all the ones i own, but the ones that get the most viewing time, and also, the onesi have from memory without getting up.

heh, I think I only have a couple horrors and they are the classics - The Birds, Psycho, Exorcist, Nightmare on Elm Street. The rest is a standard comedy collection.

Posted by naillil on Feb-02-2006 17:51:

If you like those bizarre movies that make you think like Memento, Fight Club and Punch Drunk Love... then check out Vanilla Sky. Even after watching it like 3 times it still didn't really get it - makes you think.

Oh and another favorite, American Beauty <-- great film.

Others in my collection that I forgot: Moulin Rouge, Chicago. I like musicals.

And if you really like Godfather and Goodfellas... another good one is The Untouchables (with Kevin Costner and Sean Connery)

My sister and I are pretty big movie buffs (love this time of year- awards season!)... she had more DVDs then I do.

Totally, at least those specific titles that popped out for me, it seemed like a lot!?
Comedy for sure though!

Mikey, you have me painted wrong. I dig the softcore GGW stuff the most. It's the most fun, light-hearted...

Porn is good, but the only porn I'd spend money on is Girls Gone Wild

I have 1 other GGW DVD that wasn't listed on the site. I also have two others, but they're VHS tapes I bought, so not DVDs.

I DO have, though, 4 Canadian Wild Girls DVDs though, haven't checked yet to see if those will be listed.

I'm not saying they're unwanted

but if you've got a burner and want some copies or something ...

I have a huge DVD collection... i don't have them all written down though.. but i know what i got and what i don't got...

i actually have this plan for christmas/ my b-day this coming year that will consist of me making out a LIST of all the DVD i don't have and that i want.. and whenever someone asks me what i want as a gift i'm naming off one of the movies.... its a great way to end up with all the movies you want and its cheap for the buyer!

i suggest it to anyone looking to build their collection!

Nikitha
