Review: Scumfrog, Cevin Fisher & Bradcopeland @ This is London Feb 3, 2006

This week was a LOT more organized when it came to the line ups. Only had to wait in line maybe 10 minutes. Thanks for the free passes Sean & Penny!!

The club itself wasn't too packed, so you know what that means...ROOM TO DANCE!

This was my 4th time seeing Scumfrog and I'd say he played AMAZINGLY! Definatly the 2nd best time I'd ever seen him (the best being the first time I had ever seen him at the Zone). He played some wicked tracks. There was one he spun that I just went NUTS over. I recognized it but didn't know the name of it...no one did. But then I remembered hearing it at the Gallery on Josh's birthday, and think someone told me it was a remix of a Missy Elliot song called Control Freak. I'll have to download it and check it out.
Tunes = 20/10

Thanks to Fuad and his brother for the VIP chill out area and taking care of all of us You guys rock!!

Highlight of the night for me...dancing with Del. Holy CRAP that guy can move, I never saw him dance like that before. I even extended him an invitation to join the HDT! Haha *jokes*

It was great seeing all of you and tearing up the dance floor. Sorry I had to leave early, but I needed to get some sleep, for I had an EARLY morning today!

I'm not sure about everyone else's night...

What I can definitely say is this:

Last night was one of the best times I've had in a long time. It was really good to see all the old faces. Much respect to Cuzo and Floorwhore. Not to mention all the other TA crew. My boy Ash and I had a wicked time. Respect to all the beautiful gals we met

Great night....first time at the club, a group of us ended up getting a booth...totally worth it. Staff were great, music was great ...no complaints at all......with the the exception of this hangover of course....

One thing that was kind of dissapointing was the Scumfrog didn't have his drum kits again and Im pretty sure we wasn't doing his vocals??? i could be wrong as I was pretty trashed .....

The track mentioned above could be Missy Elliot - Control (Scumfrog Mix)

STUPID...

1st time to TiL under the new Fri. night parties. Saw several people get pulled outta line for not dressing the part. I had free passes for Ultra Spin on me from John, & this 1 guy told to go home mentioned he was going to the Guv the next night, so I gave him & his friends free passes. Had to brighten his day just a little bit after that BS....
For the most part, both lines were pretty short, yet the majority of the people getting in were people walking up to the front door (friends of door staff? big spenders?). Some TA's had been standing in line for 45 mins when I know for a fact the club had loads of room / was fairly empty based on phone calls from Dallas inside. It doesn't look like Charles' people have much control over the door people. Even after Talal came and told the girl I was on Scumfrog's list + 1, she then looked it up, saw me + 7 (which I didn't even know I had), and told me all the 7 were reduced. I told her that I was getting at least +1, and that all of them shoulda been free if that's what Jesse put down, but fine- gave the reduced to several peeps in line.
Fuad had the best table in the house (right next to the booth), but when DJ's were switching, booking agents & such ended up in his space, which caused him some confusion. Fuad- thanks for the drinks. I made sure to look over the bill & noticed the 15% service was included. When he went to pay, the barmaid gave him this huge guilt trip that he wasn't tipping her, and yet he still tipped her more in his drunken state, when I'd warned him that there was no need to. Had I been there when this was going on, I would ripped her a new one.... Unless someone can explain whether that 15% does not go to her, please- prove me wrong. But come on!!!

1st time hearing Cevin Fisher- enjoyed him quite a bit. Just when Jesse came on, a 'situation' came up, and we spent the next hour dealing w/it. This sorta put me in a downer for the rest of the night, which sucked cuz I thought the beats & energy level he was putting out were just what I was craving. Couldn't get into it til the song I wanted to hear was dropped- Scumfrog's "Beat As One". Only danced for the last hour, over by 5.

fuck that place...I too will stick to Guv and the Docks where you don't have to wonder ahead of time if you're dressed to some arbitrary standard or if you're guestlist will be honoured.

Tara, my buddy Tyson, his girlfriend Serin, and myself all arrived shortly after 11 to a near EMPTY lineup. After checking our ID's, he realised Serin was only 20. After a minute of discussion, they decided they'd let us in, but we didnt get the comps that the promoter had promised us. "Just go the fuck in", were the words i believe he uttered in total disgust.

Brad Copeland was excellent yet again (nice chatting with you too brother), Cevin Fisher was spot on, and Scumfrog was good as well (but not as good as the last time i saw him at Boa-Redux.)

Overall a good night out, but that episode to start the night off left a very VERY foul taste in my mouth. Fuck you 'elitist' pricks. Especially Mr.Black hat bouncer bastard who thinks his shit dont stink.

While waiting in line for the Dish I only got to witness firsthand meathead type bouncers who were cracking wise and acted very chill, no ignorance at all. The two surveying the line up were very nice to everyone around me it seemed.

Then I hear these awful stories that keep happening to other people and it just makes me furious. That would've put me in a crap mood too Jeff.

As much fun as I had dancing with all of you and rockin' to great tunes the past couple weeks at TiL...it sounds like this isn't the type of place I would even want to grace my pressence with if the staff are going to be such dicks who think that just b/c they work at a so called "up-scale" bar that they're better than everyone!

hopefully someone from the club is reading this stuff....i thought as long as you didn't look like a bum you got in? was thinking of hitting babs but don't think i'll go anywhere near this place now...i'm old and bald, they probably won't even bother to check my shoes before turfin me is it too late to bring back systems

Even smokers themselves were complaining about the air quality.

Really too bad about this said "door guy with the black hat" luckily my crew never had to deal with him. As mentioned before we reserved a booth (10 of us) and VIP host "JP" took care of us. JP and the VIP servers were AWESOME - seems as though it maybe worth it for the management of this place to talk to this guy at the door as this stuff looks really bad on the club which otherwise is great all around....

we'll have to see what happens..

In Moscow (Russia) this bouncer thing happens at any more or less glamorous club.

Seems like anyone who spends $$$ on bottle service gets treated like kings and queens, where as people who look like they are there to actually enjoy the music, get treated like scum of the earth.

TiL: Just to let you know, you're going to lose close to half of your "SoHo" clientele if this keeps up. I for one, will not return without an explaination/apology, and a free pass to make up for the one i was promised from Friday. Even if it means missing some of my favourite dj's I cannot support this type of attitude. Being brutally embarrased, and yelled at in front of everyone in line, is uncalled for. Period.

I noticed that about the guest list- whats the point of being on it when BOTH lines are slow as molasses, and GL was not free or reduced? Lucky for some people I was handed 7 reduced passes, which I gave out to people I didnt even know (but were with TA's).

Ick to the smoking too.

Dont get me wrong.....we were definately there for the music haha...never miss Scumfrog when he's in town. Just figured we'd grab a booth as most of us would have spent way more cash if we hadn't ....

It seems like its just this one dude at the door that is shitty....why not just have the club deal with him?
