Popular Culture
in the context of films, TV & books; what does it for you? what are you looking for? what consistant factors make you waste 20 odd hrs of your life tuning into a show for a season or $14 going to catch a film @ the cinema when its first released? or what turns you right off and makes you want to bash people who like stuff like all saints?
generally the more needless nudity the more inclined i am to see it.
why don't you do your own reserach assignment pck!

i am looking for something that does not follow the normal formula of predictability, especially with books. i need something that keeps me on edge and unable to predict the ending halfway in.
as for movies go it depends what mood i am in. i will watch almost anything but as far as blowing money on going to the movies i only do that when something is worth watching on the big screen otherwise downloading from the internet is the only way to go.
you must be bored at work again pkc to post a topic like this

nah, theres just been a few posts lately that have made me wonder what gets people into certain types of entertainment (ie people are worshipping shit and i wanted to see where that interest in turd comes from and how prevalent fecal matter is in their everyday tastes
)
have you read the song of ice and fire series that i recommended awhile back? if you want no happy endings and edge of your seat rollercoaster action then it is for you.
i agree on the prison break thing, it is utter trollop that you know is going to end up in a happy happy joy joy finish but i have really enjoyed it for some reason. it sucks you in, i guess it has just been too long since i watched the sopranos
Porn!!!!
i dont really have time tbh (it is pretty massive), im reading \"cubase power!\" at the moment. i really doubt its gonna have a happy ending for me
im not really pointing the finger at prison break; just wondering about stuff generally. its what you do when youre pushing paper all day
read the books at work, just scan them and open up adobe and read them at work. that way you can entertain yourself at work instead of going postal and no one will ever know. i am sure they must be online somewhere to save all the scanning.
i dont accept the i dont have time to read, you will read them and you will like it
the hours you spend dreaming up insults for tathi could easily be spent reading these books
I'm addicted to Veronica Mars lately. It's well written, it's witty, interesting, well acted and you never know which way the twists are going to go.
But a big
to Ten for pulling the first season partway thru. Hooray for broadband!
apart from that, I don't really watch much tv/read, and the last time I went to the cinema was to take my 8yo niece..
TV: I usually only watch SBS, documentaries on war / cultures / history / art / everything else
Foreign Correspondant, Dateline, The Glass House are some of my favorite shows. Really like that show "Tribe" where that pom goes into the most remote tribes in the world and takes their hallucinogenic drugs
Books: Most of the time i read Literature and Fantasy, but considering the pathetic state mcfantasy is in atm i've been reading alot more literature lately. Just gone onto french literature, finished reading Papillon by Henri Charriere, now onto Alexander Dumas - Count of Monte Cristo
yeah i'm a fucken nerd

| but good response teapot. im the same. i love a gripping storyline that isnt all about happy endings, a strong male lead character to identify with/admire, lots of struggle, loss and triumph |
