I third that. I enjoyed Universal Religion and Universal Religion 2004 better than his ASOT CDs. Why don't more DJs just focus on making one good CD? Then one fairly good CD, and one rather crappy one (IMO) (Armin, Tiesto....). Universal Religion 2004 really wasn't a sequal to the first one, it was more like a name he slapped on a live mix in Ibiza. So it would be nice to have another studio album like the first. It had really nice flow to it, and really nice tracks as well, I still listen to that CD. I just think his CDs should be different than his radio show, because if people wanted ASOT they can just listen and even buy ASOT and listen to them on a CD.

Im boicotting everything he does until he makes a follow up to Armin van Buuren 004 - Transparance..

i dont give a jack shit about his ASOT crap..

I can't wait, I've loved the past two releases.

Can't wait to see the tracklist so I can laugh at it

Posted by Nayil on Mar-02-2006 06:45:

Now you will have to laugh at it, even if it is good.

Posted by kixalot on Mar-02-2006 06:49:

why is he doing a 2006 mix four months into the year? Isn't the idea to showcase the 'best' tracks of the year?

Posted by yaman on Mar-02-2006 11:49:

hope that this compilation of 2006 will be like 2004....

lot of uplift trance track....

My expectations are rock-bottom low.

Maybe Armin will surprise me

Don't get your hopes up. Surely it'll be another Ableton-constructed studio mix, containing the "greatest" new armind tunes. Listen to the upcoming ASOT episodes, add a few unreleased killarggs and there's the new cd.

Thats definitely way more credit than Armin deserves.

I just thought I'd be gentle and constructive (and sarcastic !!) for once

I still like the mixing if the first four tracks on cd1 of ASOT 05, but other than that it was pretty much shit. ASOT 04 wasn't good at all imo. I've got very sketchy feelings on ASOT 06.

+1

The ASOT cd's aren't bad and are mixed pretty well. It is just the selection of tunes on the cd's that I am not too impressed with. There are a lot of songs in his ASOT shows that he simply doesn't play in his live gigs and throws on these ASOT cd's. A lot of the songs are nice but I want that banging Armin cd! Hence, Universal Religion.

But yeah, I will still be buying the ASOT cd. It is still going to be good, I know that.

All I have to say is that I want:

Boundaries Of Imagination 2

Posted by washout on Mar-02-2006 15:22:

while i would like a universal religion release, ill still buy atotv2006.

How can a "DJ Mix" CD (if it's still called that way) make ANY sense at all when it's mixed on a computer using Ableton Live. It better be mixed pretty well!
Once upon a time a DJ mix-CD was about a DJ showcasing his skills... I suppose. No personal offense intended, but if I may be allowed to give my opinion.. I'd say this kind of mix cds is just retarded.

I really wonder why these big name DJs apparently don't want to make a mix cd that's actually mixed on the tables/cd player/whatsoever. I know they aren't exactly brilliant when it comes to mixing techniques, but come on...

I could write an entirely huge reason why and you probably still wouldn't agree with it. Hell, neither will I. But to keep it simple, times are changing and so is the way of dj'ing. So we all better get used to it.

its not a 2006 best off mix, it's just a name. I bet we will hear many new unreleased tracks on it, that's what a good mix cd should contain. btw.. armin said in an interview, that it will be "the next level" of his cd mix series, so we will get an imporoved version of asot 2005 I think..
