Focking Snow!!!! :whip:

I HATE IOWA SO MUCH!!!

so yeah, 7" of snow later....

We had lead lab this morning @ 0630. i left my apartment [in full service blues no less] and had to trudge through parts of our parking lot that were not plowed up to 1.5 feet of snow. a wet uniform and wet shoes are not fun.

I somehow managed to pull my truck out and not get stuck. the first time....

after lead lab, i came back and changed into BDUs and then drove back up to campus for my AF class. and this time i got stuck. the guy who was coming to plow our parking lot ended up helping me out and someone else who saw me stuck came out from her apt too and helped push. i even had to use my brand new boots i bought over spring break to kick out the snow from my tires.

I FUCKING HATE IOWA AND SNOW!!!!!!

I was driving to lead lab, and didn't stop at ANY stop sign; because i was afraid of getting stuck. I had a huge ass snowplow pull out in front of me and i had to swerve into the opposite lane to avoid hitting it - and then i had to drive across the fucking blvd of snow they made [which caused me to drive sideways down Hayward Ave].

pictars below:

all you ******s in warm weather better be damn happy that you don't have to deal with this shit - especially when it's now spring.

The bed of my truck. i wish it was sand, not snow.

my windshield

Welch Ave [really, Welch Blvd of Snow]

Welch Ave [still a blvd of snow]

the pics of Welch Ave are after my AF class, driving back home. this morning, that whole road was one big snow trench.

and to think that not even 4 days ago i was sitting on a beach in sunny Florida.

we haven't received this amount of snow here in iowa in a long time. we had a snow storm back in december; and that was it. so we were actually pretty snow-free for a good portion of this winter.

and i was hoping so bad we wouldn't have any more. ugh.

When more reports come in I will make a midwest map.

Here are totals as of 8am for Illinois (with CWA plotted)

Not standard for the midwest.

Ames should only see 5" of snow for the whole month of March based on Climatic normals.

If this were Feb or Jan I would side with you.

Posted by montana on Mar-21-2006 18:26:

boo-hoo, stop whining, still snow on the streets here and it's supposed to be early spring.

i was so hoping we wouldn't see this storm. i was really really really hoping i wouldn't have to see snow, especially after being on the beach for the past week for spring break. and then we get this shit: our monthly average in one day...

Posted by lcid on Mar-21-2006 18:31:

Little slow with it. But here is how the midwest was hammered with the snow this week

Posted by DJ Legs on Mar-24-2006 00:26:

i love snow, why complain? i live in newhampshire, and im sure you have heard the term "nor easter". we get slammed with snow. this year we had a storm that dumped 4 feet overnight. my digicam was broke tho.. but i cought a snowstorm from the year before, we got like 3 feet, but i took it mid storm, check it out.

heres a pic taken from my friend, thats main street.

my driveway. it stopped snowing for an hour, then snowd again.

lookin at my neighbors house from my window, some other storm.

heres a good one, im in the middle (grey coat). midway thru a noreaster, state of emergency style, lol. we have to snowblow or we cant get the snowblower out..

yah.. thats a taste. i have a ford explorer tho.. so.. i can easely drive.

omfg are u kidding me??? what a pussy
try living in vermont...what you got is considered a 'covering' here.

a few years ago:

it's called a noreaster son

Nother map.

But getting that much snow in the midwest is a big deal because it doesnt happen. Parts Nebraska had 20+ inches dumped on them over a few days. For spring and for the midwest... that shit is fucked.

Posted by Caela on Mar-24-2006 02:14:

yeah global warming's fucked up.

when you live in a state that is ill-prepared for ANY snow amount , be it 5" or 5' it's a bitch and a half to try to get anywhere. [esp. w/ rear-wheel drive. haha]

and when you haven't had any snow on the ground for almost 2 months now, it's just a disappointment to get slammed with something like this.

i've been thru much worse than this - but i'm just really sick of snow and winter in general. it's been fun for the past 20 some years, now i want to get the hell out of it.

true enough, it must be rough when you're not used to it. i have family in jersey and the FREAK out and call off school when they get a few inches. last year i was driving to school with my jeep in 4-wd, during a snowstorm, and SLAMMED into another car. i guess we're so used to it here, they think you can drive in anything

i've only experierenced 3 snow days in my whole life:
2 of them were in january of '99 when chicago got slammed with 21+" of snow. but it wasn't the snow that cancelled school, it was the -15 temps and -30 windchills that did it.

that was back when i was a kid in high school and didn't have to worry about anything - and winter was fun. [that and Chicago actually knows how to clean up snow, unlike iowa].
