i was arguing with my gf last night....

�about how you pronounce TOTA.

I�m a firm believer in sounding out the letters like, TEE-OH-TEE-AYY

However she thinks it should be joined together like TOE-TAH

I think she�s crazy

What do you think?

she most likely is crazy, but TOE-TAH sounds about right to me.

The abbreviation for "Toronto" is pronounced "Tee-Oh".

Therefore I think "Tee-Oh-Tee-Aye" is better-er.

I always say Tee-oh-tee-eh. Some of the other Tee-oh-tee-eh's make fun of me b/c they say Toe-ta...they're wrong...I'm right. End of story.

exactly! based on the T-O (for toronto) it logically follows that TOTA is pronounced TEE-OH-TEE-AYY!!!!! those toe-tah people are wierd!

when we coined it, it was occasionally said as toe-ta but then generally was said t o t a...so we stuck with the latter..sounded better..lol

1) The acronym "TOTA" is never spoken, and is a term non-existant unless you're actually posting on tranceaddict.com. If these terms are violated, you're a fucking geek.

so it looks like I'm not the only one that has called it toe-tah before

and for the record, we weren't really arguing - I was just pushing his buttons cause I know it drives you crazy.

I agree with geroin - it rolls off the tongue better - but I probably wouldn't say toe-tah in public.

I'd probably just refer to someone as a tee-ay anyways, not a tee-oh-tee-ay nor toe-tah
