Big Ears Official Danny Howells "U Nasty" Review Thread

It was great to see so many TA's out last night, i had no idea there was that many mwta's. This was the best night i've had out all year.

Danny was unbelievable, way beyond my expectations. Even though he was having troubles with the one turntable he played a really great set. The only track i can ID is Terry Grant - Komputers are the Devil. Hopefully PURE recorded this set.

edit: i completely forgot about mili. he played a great set along with john curley.

I agree, great time, great to see many familiar faces (LUCID!!!)

did we get an ID on the first track played by DH??? what an incredible build... seriously.

Yuris you are a madman, but you already knew that.

Opening track was James Holden - Incident... at least that's what myself and Rob agreed on.

Awesome night started out at Narcisse, a few were already there when I got in but I stayed near the door and saw Andy walk in with a bunch of ppl. Christen showed up later with Yuris, etc.
I had to walk out early to meet up with friends at Vision so I missed the bubbly sorry guys (if there was any).
Vision was a great time, I came in towards the end of Mili's set but it looked like he was tag-teaming with some other dude... i dunno what was going on.
DH had a great opening track, proceeded to suck for the next two, then got into a groove and tore the place apart from top to bottom. The lost song b4 the encore was magic, someone ID that shit.
Great to see Rob and Myra make it out through traffic. More to come later, I need sleep.

I don't remember anything about Howells' set musically, but I had a fuckin blast! I swear almost every mwta I know was at that show.

That Narcisse does not limit how many drinks you can get at one time during open bar is both the best and worst thing ever! Great to see so many people out last night and around for afters (even though I was blacked out for most of it). From what little I remember Howells was great and Mili was also excellent. Thanks to Bobby for bringing Wrestlefest '88 for Wrestling Saturday.

Thumbs up

What is love, baby don't hurt me. Andy you crack me up dude!

Posted by denys envy on Apr-10-2006 02:44:

one of the highlights of the night -

Tony Rob and I were discussing the many wonders of D-Nox and Beckers and how great they are, and Tony never heard of them by name. I was like man you gotta check it out, I'll drop some in my next set or something and sure enough Jet Lag Slave comes on not a second later - it was like divine intervention.

I think our MWTA boys learned a valuable lesson last night, and that is to PACE YOURSELF!

We paced ourselves from 4-9:15

Did anyone get a picture of when Yuris was sleeping & it looked like he was having a stare-down competition with the Hulk Hogan wrestling buddy?

That will be heavily sampled @ Narcisse April 29th! It sounds really well w/ the vox from Hiratzka & Kazell- In Your Eyes

Haddaway: "What is love?"
Shirli McAllen: "My heart"
Hadday: "What is love?"
Shirli: "This love is lord of all"
Hadday: "Baby Don't Hurt Me"

Wow. Well, ummm, I got convinced into staying again tonight for Seneca's set at Wet but then proceeded to do roughly 8 shots of whiskey / beers / a LOT of schnapps and passed out on Andy's roof around 2 this afternoon. Couldn't hack it anymore than that, had to come back home

Great night last night. Most fun of the year so far, great to see so many people out. Danny was amazing. Got to talk to him after the set and got some info on a new remix of his. I was like a kid in a candy store Mili great to finally meet you, awesome opening set. I gotta grab that Milton Jackson track you played ... totally blanking on the name now though.

Some other tracks I remember

16 Bit Lolitas - Sedna
Lil Mike - Space Cadet
DJ Gregory - S2 (Dubarash)

Recognized alot more but can't recall them. Got a little too wild

Props to Garth for having us wake him up at 730 to drink beer and smoke a cigarette with us and then having him not recall it later that morning Oh and we're probably permanently banned from afters at Andy's. I don't think Tom was so impressed

Let's just say the Narcisse open bar did me hard. If it wasn't for the MWTAs, the night just couldn't have happened. It was really great meeting all of you guys and I really enjoyed hanging out with all of you both at the club and the afterparty. So many memories, some of which may have been dreams based on the fact that at one point I had passed out temporarily on the 3rd floor. Anyway, I can't tell you what Danny played, I can't really say much about the show other than I had a great time in Chicago once again. I am sure I will see you all again at some point. I would share my pictures, but they are stuck on my phone since thats the only camera I own. The night was fun though, at least we all think that much. P.S. Come out to DEMF, despite the fact that I will not be able to attend. Peace:.

this pretty much encapsulates my night as well.

When MWTAs party, we party HARD.

Posted by lcid on Apr-10-2006 13:36:

wow... Saturday was insaaaaaane!

i don't i've ever seen so many MWTAs out at an event before!! on the car ride home i was drunkenly counting how many TAs were out, and at the time i counted 15 but i know it was more than that.

it saddens me that we weren't able to make it to Narcisse (sitting in traffic for 40 min outside of Milwaukee really screwed that up) and that we had to take off early... RJT was sick all last week so he wasn't drinking, and i got a little too drunk too fast, so we decided to bail and head home early to save our sanity. i really wish we would've had enough energy to stay until the end and then go to afters... we don't get to hang out with the MWTAs nearly as often as we'd like to, but Saturday night was just wearing us down.

really great sets from both Mili and Danny... i was really enjoying what Danny was playing - wish i knew more IDs, and Mili played an excellent opening set! i kind of wish i hadn't gotten drunk so that i would have paid more attention to the music, but whatever... i had a great time regardless!

it was great to see so many familiar faces out (too many to list but i <3 you all!), and it was nice to meet some new ones (Mili and dubblies!) and run into some old ones (Rubin!!!)...

oh, and Garth - i promise you one of these times we'll make it until the very end with you.

WOW!!!!

Was that surreal or was that surreal?
for myself, playing with my #1 DJ definitely was.

it was a pleasure meeting so many TA's(
Myra, Rob, Bobby, Angie, glass, yuris, Neil, everyone else!!). you guys ROCK!!!!
by the end of my set I was a bit sloppy myself so please forgive me if I'm omitting anyone.

I thought Danny played an awesome set!!!!
CHOON after CHOON!!!
really brought a smile to my face when he played Mekon - Please stay towards the end of his set. Its an older tune that he played when i first heard of him.

there was one bad thing about Sat night, it had to end!!
