negotiating
so i went to best buy and i decided to buy a laptop. so i went there looking for their display models hoping to cut a deal.
so this is what i paid. i dunno if i got a good deal or not
i got
intel pentium centrino 1.70 ghz 100 gb hd, dvd burner cd burner i forget how many megs of ram. had some special fuckin video card in it and something else that i couldnt have given a rats ass abt.
and i paid with taxes 800
good deal?
i think so. however i came out feeling a little disappointed with my negotiations. i think i could have gotten these guys to go lower. not only that i wanted the fuckin carrying case which they wouldnt throw in unless i bought the extended warranty which i told them fuck off with. they also promised to throw in all these software if i bought the warranty. anyways i got the software regardless. but i wanted that carrying case and i know i could have gotten them down to 700 bucks.
my 2 biggest mistakes
#1 i told them my budget: which however in reality was alot higher then what i told them, but sucked me dry for every penny i said was within that budget
#2 i went in their to negotiate with a massive fuckin zit on my nose. i cant even take my self seriously in the mirror with this huge fukin clown nose i have right now. i havent gotten a zit like this since i waslike fuckin 17.
so what negotiating tricks do u have? lets share them.
and then tell me what i can do abt this zit should i pop it?

eric, your biggest mistake is not being chinese.
chinese people can bargain like they are competing for a fucking medal.
my mom wouldve got you that laptop for $600 NO TAX with carrying case and the sales dork's sister.

ahahahaha you are a fool's fool. ![]()
Don't start with a price point. Ignore the price tag when you negotiate or else you anchor yourself.

regarding the zit, yeah pop that sucker. 1) because you know you want to anyway. 2) it will be cool
Once you've poped its ugly white blistering head then dry it out with some standard bar hand soap. Once it's dry apply a dab of neosporin so it will heal faster and won't puss back up tomorrow due to minor infection or being open to dirt.
As for bartering... I never buy the first time I see them. I find out what their bottom line is by preparing myself to NOT buy at all my first time in the store/ booth. I then can gauge how bad they want the sale and how low they are prepared to go. If it meets my satisfaction I can walk back at any time to get it. If it's close I tell them the next time what my $ line is and see if they can match it or if we can then come to an agreement.
Never stand across a booth, counter or table from them. Always try to get beside them so it's more 'chummy' like you are trying to help each other out with the sale.
I also do my homework before hand on bigger purchases to find out what they paid for it, what is a realistic retail price and what they can get away with selling it for. I don't want to pay a good retail price when I barter, I want a good wholesale liquidation price!
I also try to dress just rich enough to afford what I want to buy but not so nice that they think I can spurge a bit extra. (Ie leave the nice watch at home for a computer, it shows disposable income you don't want to bring attention to)

) you look like you've probably pinched pennies to get where you are so they also could expect you to bargain their pants off.

I'd say that's a pretty sweet deal. Depending on the monitor size and ram, it's a good price.
Your fucked though, that warranty would have really come in handy, trust me. Treat your laptop like royalty. My laptop here is saved by the future shop warranty, what would be like a 2k repair is now free (2-4 week wait but fuck it, worth it)...
Serously man, be really fucking careful, you can get fucked over real bad if that shit breaks.

when your going to make a deal with a sales person. know about everything your buying and where you can get it cheaper.
my brother is a sales manager and he bought a brand new car listed at $32,000 for $27,000 out the door.
basically you want the make the guy want your business. if you act like your hot shit, then he'll blow you off. sound interested but know when the sales man is lying and such.
