I just came across an unusual tomato!

While making fajitas I cut open a tomato to find 1-inch-long sprouts growing inside!

Apparently only about one in every 10,000 has seedlings sprouting inside.

It's a rare condition called vivipary, in which the natural hormone inhibitors that keep seeds dormant within the fruit break down

Yes I ate it.

1. I couldn't have fajita without tomato.

2. It gave it a bit of a "green" (wheatgrass?) type of taste.

You should have taken pictures...then sold them to the National Enquirer claiming it was the offspring of an evil alien race that will cause the end of the world on 9-11-2006

I bet they would have bought it....

awesome.. it's good to try new things

I would have thrown it away!

i once consumed a bad tomato.. and i stand by my belief that bad tomato is THE WORST TASTE on earth... i've never tasted anything worse then a bad tomato...

seeing somthing crazy in my tomato.. i would have tossed it SOOO fast!

You are VERY brave for having eaten said tomato.. much braver then i am!

Posted by geroin on May-06-2006 04:36:

when i was a kid i went on a vacation to my relatives cottage
they had those tomatoes growing and they were so nice i decided to try and eat one, so i ripped it off and started eating it then i noticed a disgusting taste in my mouth, i looked and there was some big dirty insect i didnt notice and i bit on it and ate half of it with the tomato. I couldn't eat for a few days after that incident and now i only eat tomatoes that are sold in the store.

I know you looked this up once you cut open the tom-EH-to.....
Unless you already knew of this condition - which would blow me away
