Tiesto at Amphitheater REVIEW
This will be just a partial review. I know I had said this before when Ferry was there but the energy at Amp was insane, I had never seen it like that it there before. It was sold out so it was packed beyond belief, no walking room. But that didnt stop people from enjoying themselves.
He went on surprisingly early around 11:50. Kai opened for him, and played a nice house set including:
This is Not Miami (love this one)
some newer remix of Mr Roboto
The tracks I remember from Tiesto(for now) in no particular order are:
Karen Overton - Your Loving Arms (club mix) hawtttt
Tiesto - Loves Comes Again
Push - Strange World
Late Night Alumni - Empty Streets
Helsinki Scorchin (I think both M.O.R.P.H remix and another remix at 2 different times ?? )
Leama & Moor - Everything Matters (Matthew Dekay Remix)
Ahmet Ertenu - Why
Ronski Speed w/ S&T - Incognition
Traffic
Simon Paterson - F16 (? remix)
Marcel Woods - Advanced
I cant remember right now what else!!! I took some good pics so I will post them.
and as always good to be with Amber and Terry, Paul and Ali, Suzy and Bri, Matt, Frederico (thank you again!!), Dustin and his gf, Jaime, AJ, and of course my Dutchie
i thought paul santana was opening for him?

| Tiesto's last show was packed to a needle. Which means not much room for any kind of "gyrations". And very little room for any movement. The environment is terrific and Tampa crowd is one of the most lively and energetic |
Simon Patterson - F16 (Mac & Mac Remix) ???

no one has mentioned the $200 admission for those who didn't buy pre- sale. $200 was general admission, not VIP. it's sickening that they claimed it was " sold out " but if you were willing to pay $200 you could get in. his set was average (at best) in my opinion. also tiesto ending his set so abruptly with no encore was very dick (even if he was pissed)
It was ok. I did not care for the opener/closer Kai. His song selection was blah, his mixing was sub par at best. As far as Tiesto goes...I give him a B- for his performance. 1st hour was mellow and on the housey side. I knew the set was going to progress but for me it wasnt happening soon enough as time seemed like it was standing still. Towards the tail end of the 1st hour and into the 2nd hour he ventured into the more melodic stuff which was the part of the set i enjoyed most. Soon after he mixed in a few techno sounding tracks which the crowd seemed to really enjoy and from there into Traffic. Then he decideds to call it quits with 30 minutes left and just waves and walks off. No encore, nothing. Instead, here you go trance fans how about some more poorly mixed warm up music from Kai. Thanks a freakin lot Tiesto. Thats my cue to leave. Lets be realistic, how much energy would it have taken him to wait for the crowd to stop screaming his name and simply press play on the cd player 1 or 2 more times? That was a very weak ending to a mediocore performance at best.
wow. im glad i didnt go

You'd think as well with the club being so packed that Amp would not have the curtain lady doing her acrobats over the dance floor causing them to make this HUGE cleared area for her.

I wish I could have gone but unfortunately I procrastinated and by the time I went to buy tickets they were sold out. I really love ISOS5 and was looking forward to hearing some of the music live on a big system... I'm definitely bummed.
I would have DIED to hear "Advanced"

| But what really pissed him off was when some guy from the Amp (the African-American who does Neon Man?) tried to one-up Kai with an encore. |

It was ok, nothing outstanding by any means.
As far as Amp, they are digusting. Like the person above said, they were "sold-out" but if you have the money you can come in. $200 cover??? Kiss my ass Santoro, no one pays that even for Miami. And all the dirtbag guys working the door, "Hey man, it's Tiesto!" Yeah, it was Tiesto back in 04' too, and he was the #1 DJ then too, you weren't "sold-out" then.
Even worse, they filled the place to WELL over capacity and the damn A/C was off! I saw SO many people leaving the club drenched and miserable at only 12:30ish.
GJ Amp, lets see how long it is before Tiesto shows up to your venue again.
i'm really glad i didnt make the trip up to tampa for this after reading these reviews. it sucks but honestly i expected exactly what the reviews are saying and thats the reason i didnt go.

I think Tiesto had a good set. Maybe people couldn't see him like I could but he did wave bye and he did have crowd interaction the majority of the time. I think Amp put him on early to get him off the decks early. Anyone that went to see Ferry in March will remember the chaos at closing. I think that was Amp's doing and they had him stop early to get people to leave. The Amp has never had an event sell out. The show was sold out days in advance. Everyone was still there at 2:30am. Tiesto didn't end 30 minutes early. When has anyone ever been allowed to spin until 3am (other than Ferry and Sasha both by accident)? They spin until about 2:45 to 2:50. Before we start hating we need to clarify circumstances first. I think Tiesto might have been slightly annoyed at the Amp for all of the theatrics they always have going on and with his friend Kai. By no means did he act annoyed at the fans. The Amp needs to realize that an EDM event like that is about the music and the DJ and most of us couldn't give a shit about seeing the dancers. As for Tiesto's set, you can't sit there and tell me that the Amp wasn't going off almost the entire night.
Damn people, it sure as hell was a million times better than any normal night at the Amp. I enjoyed myself and I have zero regrets for going. I was with most of my closest friends and we were all having a great time. Props to Tiesto for having us on his guest list and to Santoro for allowing us in his VIP. Being with my husband, my brother, and my best friends plus not standing in line, not paying, and being above and away from the masses made a huge difference in my night.
