Smiling Frog Trance is NOT dead !!! actually.... 8-)

well i read a whole bunch of topics declaring trance dead because Corsten/Buuren/Dyk etc. "killed it". well hell its true imo

but what i see is that a lot of people staple trance music as a defined genre to certain djs and producers. so in event the named dj or producer quits playing/producing the expected trance sound, people just tend to declare trance dead.

in my opinion, trance cannot be actually dead/gone because it is defined so by sound criteria.

so if the case if that pvd/armin/ferry etc. do not play trance anymore, fuck em! others will do it ! :0)

cheers!

Of course it's not dead you fuck. I mean... as long as people produce tracks that use the basic formula of a genre then it's not dead.

im getting sick of all these retarded "i know better posts"... but its been a while since i saw one quite as ridiculous as that. whether you like it or not pvd plays trance, just because its not the kind of trance that you like to toss off to doesnt mean its not trance.

what type of DJ is he?

I agree, if pvd is not a trance dj then what the fock is he???
U could call him a hard trance dj, but he varies so much in his productions and dj sets.

Yeah armin, tiesto, ferry, all of the top 5 are lately turning kind of techy, but they still contain the elements of trance.

The genre has been taken to new levels with sander van d, especially, broadening the 'restrictions' within the genre.

In my eyes, the reason there is a small change, is so much has been achieved with the typical 'trance' sounds and compositions that there have been adaptions that svd has done so well.

For me, trance is growing......

And if they do get tired of it we'll still produce, and if they don't like it, we'll tape headphones onto their heads and force them to listen to it, eventually they will realize that trance rules

are you a part of the Wise Guy club?

its not intended to bring you use, its just a discussion, pretty much contra to the usual whining "why tiesto sucks" "trance is dead" "who killed trance" threads.

need something useful - go buy a screwdriver or a swiss knife

I think PVD himself said in some interview, that hes not a trance dj. According to his words, he plays "electronic dance music". He also said something like "Lasgo, Dj Sammy etc. were connected with the word "trance", so for many people, trance is the worst music they have ever heard" (someone had (has?) this in a sig here).

And we all know hes not only a trance dj. His "laptop-case" is full of housy/techno records. Just depends on where and how long he plays

Posted by Numidia on May-19-2006 15:11:

Agreed with threadstarter. Too much focus on the big djs in this genre, there's people way better than them playing way better stuff on internet radio

four words...

A STATE OF TRANCE

thats completely irrelevant, he plays trance, he is a dj, therefore he is a trance dj. just because hes ashamed to admit it doesnt make it any less true.

Trance is not dead. Armin and the others didnt kill anything. This board is just full of Elitest retards who think they know what they are talking about. According to them anything popular is bad, it kinda reminds me of the Emo kids on South Park who call everyone conformists.

I love the reference to south park. I fookin hate people who think they know stuff but actually don't know shit!

Anyway dude, it's up to them if they think trance is "dying"

Atleast if u love the music enough then it doesn't matter oooone bit at all!....

I don't see it like that here, and I browse this forum more often than I should.

TranceAddicts don't have a bias against the big name DJs, its just that so many threads get started about them in the MD that we are quick to criticize their popularity, not their music. I've read countless threads about great songs by each of the big DJs here.

I found your post more than a lil ironic when you were so quick to lump us all into your category of "elitest retards", when that is not the case at all.

a discussion about what? about "how trance is alive" which would be totally opposite of a discussion about "how trance is dead"? think of that for 2 seconds, cause my head has assploded.

Yeah people can say what they want, I dont care, but I'll be rocking out to ASOT 250 while they're fist pumping to some homo-erotic house because, rumor has it, trance is "dead" in Germany or some shit.

Don't forget the pills and glowsticks while you're rocking in your armchair.
