DJ's and drug use

I know that PvD doesn't get high, but what about the other big names?

I've read interviews with Tiesto where he seems quite open about drugs but he doesn't mention straight out that he does them. I recently listened to a Ferry Corsten set where he plays a sample that says 'Ecstasy' throughout.

Can anybody tell me anything on this subject?

Most dj's don't touch that shit.....except the following....marc spoon, annie nightengale

Tiesto is a known drinker and smoker

Certain deejays are known for as much for their drugs consumption as their deejay abilities

It's funny imo..........coz you think of most dj's as ppl who don't do drugs.......

In fact the whole club/party scene is associated with drugs, in the eyes of many people, at least.
That's why Trance and Techno music gets a bad rep in the media.

DJ jean does cocaine and XTC

ones he let some speks cociane on the decks
ones he was drunk and forgot to wipe his nose after inhaling/sniffing the stuff, he just continued spinning with that stuff in/around is nose

Jon the Dentist is also a VERY nig drinker!

Most deejays do drugs.......very interesting.

i find this news kind of disturbing.. i used to do drugs but i quit because i got smart.. its sad to know that some of these respected dj's feel they need to be high while spinning a set instead of letting the music itself lift you up.. when i spin i prefer not to be drunk/high just because i usually just fuck up instead of mix well, but i guess if you can get fucked up and pull off a good set then whatever..

ps.. im not trying to put down people that do drugs because im still a drinker, but not when im spinning!

Only rumour according to a lot of people Sven Vath used to be one massive cainer, theres even been stories that had Blood tranfusions in Switzerland, but I dunno if thats totally true.

About james holden.......he was in armind........on thurs......so we are talking to him and he goes.....slow down......i can't respond that fast when i'm stoned. We asked do you get stoned often, he said yes. So james holden is a stoner.

Picotto was wasted last week. Apparently he chose to hide his stash at the moment crasher decided to switch to a live feed of the DJ booth on the big screen. Decide for yourselves anyway:

its not that bad if they drink and smoke...cuz lots of people do that...but drugs....that's just sad....
I would feel betrayed if one of my fav Dj's was on drugs...

Well get ready to feel betrayed. Every influential musician has been on SOMETHING!! And why the hell is drinking and smoking ok, but NO- not "drugs"!! Sorry, you hit a sour note in me. Since when has smoking been good for you? Why would marijuana be worse(note: physiologically it's not worse for you)? Drinking must be ok cause its not illegal...yeah right, drinking is TERRIBLE for you. Why is it that people that use drugs are labeled as 'bad', 'inferior', or 'less intelligent'. Drug use is rampant in our culture, look at booze, smoking, CAFFEINE!, prescription medicines, or fucking tylenol! ugh...you should get informed whether you choose to do it or not - but ESPECIALLY if you are going to criticize it. late/

I'm well aware that the damages created by drinking and smoking are far worse than certain drugs...there's no doubt about it...
Trust me....i'm not ingorant (or un-informed)....
I was simply speaking from a social stand-point...
you see people drinking and smoking the whole time...but when it comes to drugs...it's something "bad"....
that's how it's viewed in society....

Also why is it so surprising that these big Djs do drugs. I mean, they were first drawn into this genre of music just like we are here. The electronica scene has always been asscociated with drugs, they've been so exposed to it so it's only natural.

well im not offended, thats too strong a word. im not a big time drug pusher or something trying to get everyone to do drugs. its just that the way you came off, you made it sound like you were blind to the fact drugs are everywhere, especially in the club scene - hell theres even a 'genre' of drugs called CLUB DRUGS...like E and coke. it was also cause you acted pretty naive like musicians, especially DJs, in a CLUB, wouldnt do drugs...and thats just silly.

one thing i think is funny, is imagine techno, or its European electronic counterpart in its infancy. epic, beautiful, complex trance didnt just pop up out of nowhere! there was prolly some really drugged up, yet talented and prolly completely viable human being that decided to play with electronic sounds to begin the growth of electronic music...late/

I have nothing against anyone who smokes pot or takes drugs, but that doesn't mean i have to agree with what he or she is doing....
