i can't mix. what's wrong with me

aroudn december i was spinning fine and dandy, about as good as anybody, wasn't doing any tricks or anything..but beatmatching was easy as pie. fast forward to today, and i can't even get a bang on mix anymore...i havn't been spinning often, but i duno...

is having a few months of shit normal for people? id uno, i was spinning good in december cause i knew i wasg oing to spin on new years, now i have no parties in sight, so could my lack of tallent be because of lack of motivation?

just wondering if this is normal for some.

Eh, you just have one of those days from time to time. Those are the days ya just stop and do something else and have at it the next day or the end of the week. Could be a mood you are in or something. Don't stress it.

I'm screwing up on my cdj100s because of always having to adjust the pitch because its 0.1+-, have to adjust it so much its hard to get a perfect clean transition

j/k.. take a break, or try a slightly different kind of music to change it up.. i.e. trance -> house, etc...

or mix when hammered... <-the most fun..

It's normal, and I'm sure there is nothing wrong with you. Some nights I'm dead on from the first vinyl till the last. Other nights I go to my practice room, trainwreck half a dozen times, shake my head and go have a beer. However, the good nights outweigh the bad nights, and no matter how poorly I perform I can't make myself give up mixing. It's just too damned fun and relaxing!

.1 pitch, ouch. Id have a hard time accepting .05 on the 800s much less .1.

Interestingly enough, I know more than 1 pro who adjusts the pitch resolution on whatever CDJ 1000's they're playing on to .05% because they actually prefer it there.

Meh, this happens to everyone. There always a period where you just can't mix or play an instrument. Take a day or 2 off and get back at it. Sometimes you are also awesome at it and don't know why, it's weird, happens to me sometimes and then the next day you're normal again.

Do what I do... When Im practicing and I cant mix for shit, I pop in a Paul Oakenfold live set. When I hear the horse races going on over at Union Station, then I get this big huge cheesy smile on my face and say to self...

"SELF!, YOU CAN DO IT!"

I notice the more i practice the more shittier my mixes are. I guess its because i get used to it and i'm not into the groove as much. These days i play only when i got that good feeling, when i really really want to mix. Everytime i do that, i do amazing. Whenever i force myself to play its never as good.
