CBC News

The RCMP plan to answer more questions on Saturday about a series of raids and arrests in the Toronto area on Friday.

At least eight people were taken into custody on terrorism-related charges, though there is little more information available.

More than 100 officers were involved in the sweep, including members of the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team.

More arrests and more charges are expected overnight.

The RCMP will release more details at a news conference on Saturday.

I guess the problem is, anybody can lie.

My money's on us not realising they are terrorists when we let them in.

(But yes I see your point.)

Posted by geroin on Jun-03-2006 07:46:

at least they got them..

Posted by Jayx1 on Jun-03-2006 14:18:

this is serious..they were caught with explosives and apparently were planning on bombing the subway this week.

Ive always said we were due for an attack. Hopefully this will get everyone's head out of their asses so they can wake up and realize that we are also a target.

More like

"how long were you gone?"

"3 weeks"

"any tobacco or alcohol?"

"nope"

"have a nice day"

Our customs is less a customs and more of a tax collector.

^^^^^^ So true

they were canadian citizens...I bet some or most of them were born and raised here.

Nuttin you can do about that from a customs perspective.

I am curious - the attacks were alleged to have been planned for various locations in southern ontario. Where outside of toronto would have been a target?

i dont know, but the three tonnes of explosives they found could have easily taken down the CN tower with a truck bomb.

I really hope that this will be the lesson needed to take this seriously. Im not saying we should be paranoid. But i would like the government to focus more on national security instead of smoking and pit bulls.

Candian embassy in Syria:

-young secular woman, bad english or french, refused to enter canada.

-"ninja type" woman, with full burqa, speaks english or french, welcome to canada, granted residency in Canada.

this is not a joke... something's wrong with this country.
