Leave your mark here if you party drug free~!!

I hate the sterotypes that people have that if you listen to trance, you do E or any other type of drug. I for one DO NOT do E nor have I ever tried. I don't need that crap to make my experience with music better...trance is all I need. So I guess I just wanted to make this thread to know who else out there feels the way I do and who party drug free.

It dont bother me that ppl do drugs, but if it make them do stupid things(get aggressive) and so on, then I mind.

i sense some sarcasm...I didnt' start this thread cuz I was on a self righteous trip. I started it because there is a stupid and unnecessary correlation between trance and drugs. here in NYC mayors are cracking down on clubs and raves because of the drugs. And where does that leave the rest??! Makes me mad.

Ignore the sarcasm... Seems a lot of it is going around lately ... But whatever not a big deal...

Question? Do you drink when you party?

I too do not pop pills when i go to a party. I have tried it once or twice. It does suck that our scene is associaited with drugs. I too feel that they do not correlate. However, I definetly like to be a little messed. Having a few drinks allows me to loosen up a bit, get into the flow. I find lately (as i've mostly been sober) its been hard to let loose. However, some of the best times are when you just get high on the tunes.

I wouldn't say there's a stupid and unnecessary correlation between trance and drugs. It's hardly a secret that a pretty high number of people take drugs at trance/dance music events.

If your government chose to use this as an excuse to dicate to you what music you can listen to and how you party then maybe your efforts would be better spent campaigning for a more liberal attitude.

There's no right or wrong way to party. It all boils down the same as the recent cyberkids thread; instead of worrying about what other people do concentrate on making the experience better for yourself, however you want to do it.

Posted by Eu4ea on Mar-03-2002 03:43:

ALTHOUGH I agree with SPAD on mainly concentrateing on one's self level of enjoymentand the various means of reaching a high, I prefer a natural one. When I go see a set, i want to remember every second of it, and the highs I get when a really good choon comes on don't comare to any x, weed, speed, or alk.

Bravo! I salute Spad for his excellent statement.

I have never used drugs myself. But it is a fact that the Trance/Club culture and some soft drugs DO go together. You know this as well as the next trancEaddict. We're not talking about cocaine or heroine here, drugs that can kill you. Oftentimes, soft drugs enhance your dance experience just like alcohol helps you loosen up, and they're not harmful.

I have a question for you: If they sold Xtasy openly at your club, would you buy it? Now let me rephrase the question: if they did away with that dirty, obscene title, and called it a "mood enhancer," would you NOW buy it?

Strangely, "mood enhancers" are not illegal here where I live, but as soon as there's a hint of the word "ecstasy" at a party, that's when the cops storm in... Like S.H.O.K.K. proclaims in his tune, "Isn't It All a Little Strange?"

...I'd comment some more...but you pretty much summed it all up nicely. So, I'll leave it at that

Smile

I party DRUG FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!........dumb canner spad.

Posted by tiesto14 on Mar-03-2002 05:49:

Well..personally i party without pills, coke, weed etc...i do drink though too loosen up a bit...but the reason i DONT use the other drugs is not cus of my government but because i feel i personally have no need for them....

In the U.S. we have laws against these sorts of drugs, therfore we are NOT allowed by law to take them...whether thats good or bad REMAINS to be seen...but aslong as they are illegal and clubs are filled with them and kids who take them who dont know how to take them responsibly and keep ODing then they will keep cracking down on the problem....

Its very similar to the 1960s in the U.S. with the hippies and there drug use at festivals and cincerts and political protests...our scene is getting the same attention...

Personally i feel drugs like exctasy have MANY medicinal benefits but should not be made legal due to the severe long term affects they can cause with repeated usage...and yes i have seen them first hand....so i am not talking out of my ass...

However SOME drugs in MODERATION are very fun and "can be" safe if taken with care...but thats does not mean they should be legal....

Posted by JM on Mar-03-2002 08:25:

well i drink, not too much though...a few drinks just to make those few inhibitions fly loose.....
<--dont let that ever filling glass of beer make u stereotype me

i dont do illegal drugs, (or any prescription drugs for that matter)...but it's funny how the US government and other governments control sale of tobacco and liquor which are VERY harmful but ban weed which is such a softcore drug....ahhh.....i dont care.....

>JM<

ps. trance is really all i need

Posted by Rustang! on Mar-03-2002 09:01:

I USED to do all kinds of drugs before i listened to any electronic music. But then I got more into trance, progressive, etc and I stopped doing drugs. now i just smoke and once in a while i'll drink. But I don't think I'll ever do drugs again.

Posted by ABTsportsline on Mar-03-2002 09:34:

i don't do drugs. I don't care if you want to do them or not. I am not going to yell at you if you do drugs, but i am not going to do them, regardless if they're legal or not.

More power to you either way.

Exactly. I have about a lot more respect for somebody who learns about drugs (legal & illegal) for themselves and then makes an educated disision about which they want to use and which they don't than I do for somebody who subsribes to the "legal = goood, illegal = bad" way of life.

I think people need to take a step back and actually be honest with themselves about the damage something like alcohol does to society (not saying that I have anything against alcohol, just that it's an example of something legal) compared to a substance such as weed.

People are starting to become a lot more tolerant of weed but only because it's use is so widespread now that they can't argue it's dangerous any more. They're basically just following the flock again. Who's to say that in 10 years time they wont be singing the praises of another drug, which today it's "uncool" to use.

Shame / Disagreement

There are many perscription drugs that are worse than illegal drugs, but if you feel good that you don't upset the government then more power to you...

If you think weed/mushrooms are worse than alcohol, go ahead and believe it, even if its not true..

If you know what drugs are about and chose not to do them, much respect, but if you think somehow that people who do illegal drugs are stupid, suck my hairy balls

So does that mean that you're never going to have sex again? I mean sex is great fun! But then you can have fun just by listening to Trance right? So why bother taking the emotional risk of having sex with somebody, not to mention the risk of STD's. Anyway you get what I mean.

It pisses me off that people think others take drugs because they need to them to appreciate trance or something. But since they appreciate music so much more than everybody else they don't need drugs.

FACT: Drugs and Music are two completly different things. You're not going to get anything like the same feeling you'd get from taking drugs by listening to music. And you're not going to get the same feeling you'd get listening to music just by taking a pill.
