Some not-so-good news

Armin is cancelled.

And LP said no way to the idea of bringing Blank & Jones, Marco V, and Sander van Doorn, even after SvD's booking people tried to set it up.

Assuming that you are serious, the B&J and SvD rejection was sort of expected, but Armin?

.... There is nothing looming down the road.

Thumbs down

Ass.

*edit* And Spacemasters will NOT be happy about this.

This totally blows. What possible reason could there be for this? Maybe Space decided that another week of the same boring played-out house music we hear every week is sufficient entertainment in Miami for Labor Day weekend.

Seriously though, I hope it is just an issue with scheduling/details/terms with Armin, and they can book some other trance act that actually meets their criteria/standards. I believe they are rejecting Marco V and SVD because they are unknown commodities in terms of what type of turnout they would get. I say this because it is clear that SVD and Marco V can each run multiple circles around the residents at Space and a lot of the guests at Space as well, so bottom line monetary issues are probably at the heart of that decision.

So can anyone say Ferry Corsten. Can Space do the right thing and book him for that weekend? No excuses for Space there. Ferry is big enough to bring people in, he is not booked yet for that weekend (as per his posted schedule on his website), and that would be a great booking for Labor Day. In fact Ferry's first time at Space was Labor Day weekened in 2003, and he blew the roof off that place. And his return to Space is long overdue.

I know some people may say "we have already seen Ferry so book someone new, etc, etc." Yet beggers cannot be choosers, and we need to be realistic, as Space will not go from a proven commodity (AVB) to an unproven one (exs: SVD, Marco V, or B&J). As we all know Space is and remains a business first. Music and everything else comes second to the all-mighty dollar. So it needs to be someone they KNOW will pack in that club without question. Being that PVD just played there and Tiesto is now playing at Mansion & Bang, Ferry is the obvious choice. Of course this assumes Space wants to give us something to do that weekend actually involving good music.

Many of you have probably seen this footage before. But just for anyone who does not think Ferry is the obvious choice, take a look at this video from A3 TV which captured highlights of his first set at Space (Labor Day 2003), which speaks for itself.

what you people fail to realize is that LP and space dont care who you wanna book. even tho the crowd was decent for a sunday nite, it was mostly populated by nineteen years olds who maybe bought one water and probably shared it. its pretty obvious that armin nite didnt make enough money to warrant a further booking by space. the guy is a business man(and a shrewd one at that), and if he isnt going to make enough money to cover operating cost and churn a NICE profit, he's going to cut his losses. why take the risk of running a club for some kid fresh out of highschool to take too much x, pass out for water intoxication/heat exhaustion, and bring a bunch of unwanted publicity to your club? the answer is its not.

the facts remain the same the only trance DJ who will turn out a profit EVERYTIME is tiesto. thats it. they could book him on tuesday afternoon and he would sell the ****** out. and until someone comes along with the charisma, stlye, and track selection of a tiesto, space will not be the place for trance for some years. you guys can keep dreaming about SVD, BNJ, Marco V, and any other trance dj with a europeon rep, but its not going to happen. ever. hell even PVD, the #1 dj in the world got relagated to friday nite on the terrace no less. trance for all intensive purposes died back in 2002. i can maybe see ferry(who could handle the room like tiesto) but him not playing there during conference wasnt a good omen for the future.

maybe twilo can pick up the slack, but space isnt going back to booking str8 trance nites anymore, this has been becoming more and more evident every single year with space. trance is phasing out. it will have to be either coupled with something else or WMC. hey guys, i love a great trance set just as much as you, but the proof is in the pudding, and i dont mean to be negative, just realistic. someone prove me wrong. but that the facts are besides you guys and few other enlightened souls, no one gives two shits about trance in clubland miami.

ps- my insights above pertain to MIAMI, not the rest of the world, dont misconstrue

Guvernment is a gigantic entertainment complex/club. 6-7 rooms, almost every kind of music genre. You would love it dude. Me and Mel love the KoolHaus room the most. It's like a mini-Trance Energy in there. Armin plays pretty good in Canada, so LOL wouldn't be a bad choice for you.

yeah with 19 year olds.

Go and re-read Neils post.

I don't really care anymore as I have more fun partying outside of Miami, in new places, then waiting for my fav dj's to come back again.

With Optimus Prime on my side, I'm sure we can beat Luis Puig's ass back to Cybertron.
