lets see, it sounds like the word flange...like a flange (bracket) on a manifold. The G is pronounced like a J in Jerry. Or say Land drop the D add the Je from Jerry and there u go.

Pronounce it in French but without changing the sound of the 'A'.

In 'Menno de Jong' is 'J' silent? Or is it pronounced as 'y' and not 'j'?

Same for 'Jonas Steur'?

Damn it, Charles, I told you it's pronounced like the first guy said.
They fucking shout it out as a promotion for his website during a set.

You Americans swallow your 'R'.

'Steur' >> the 'R' sounds like 'RRRRRRRRRRR' (dunno how to explain this)

mange is more like maynge i thought? it's not that, it's a short 'a' sound like in 'can'.. although i'm not sure if you were being facetious or not there.

Posted by isoterra on Jul-22-2006 13:27:

not only do we swallow our R's. We swallow and mispronounce many T sounds.

Example:

Forgotten - Forgo (N) (You swallow that sound)
Better - Beder
Button - Bu -N
Cotton - Cu-N

And the list goes on and on..... Family - Famly lol

I know guy who's last name is "Lange" and in his case it's pronounced "Lonj"... so maybe "Landje" isn't correct.

Posted by JamesR on Jul-23-2006 08:45:

What about Jose (as in Jose Amnesia)?

Is it ho-say or more like yo-say? or is it how it looks: Jose? (like Joez)

Posted by Purple on Jul-23-2006 10:01:

The word 'J' should be banned.
