Mark Farina @ M-bar tonight?

So uh, who's going to this? I haven't seen it mentioned yet, and wanted to make sure that people in Houston or the vicinity know about this. I think Farina's going to be at Seven in Dallas tomorrow as well, so you people up there have no excuse to miss it either.

Deep house, anyone?

Posted by j_love01 on Jul-28-2006 18:50:

Ben Watt tonight at Minc and then Farina tomorrow at Seven.

Good weekend!

Farina? Did you see him recently?

Ben Watt was nothing short of amazing last night. I HIGHLY recommend catching him if you have the chance....

hes got his sessions compilation out recently which is amazing..Farina never dissapoints, i caught him in Miami a few months ago, such a great DJ.

Posted by winston on Jul-29-2006 16:17:

Call me an idiot but I don't dig his housey techno thing. I heard his essential mix with Josh Wink from Miami, and I really didn't get into it.

Ben Watt from Everything but the Girl, is great.

Posted by Danny Ocean on Jul-29-2006 16:34:

dunno wtf youre on about on house-techno...mark farina is deep funky house at its finest. His technique and trackselection is solid as a rock. Didnt listen to his EM so i cant comment on that.

Posted by winston on Jul-29-2006 16:37:

Well, all crappy music i call it "house-techno", its a way of avoiding using other more explicit terms.

Posted by DJ_Ballistic on Jul-29-2006 16:39:

lmao but u listen to techno so i dont get y u would use it in a derogatory manner

Posted by winston on Jul-29-2006 16:49:

Mark Farina plays music that will suit a more preppy, jet-set, gay crowd. I like music that actually makes you think, music that creates a stimulus in your brain; I don't like music that's completely oriented towards dancing...get it.

Posted by iclone on Jul-29-2006 16:53:

farina killed it at GIANT last weekend -- no way i'd miss him tonight. gonna try to see him AND andy moor. anyone else want to party-hop with me?

do we know set times for farina @ seven?

Posted by Danny Ocean on Jul-29-2006 16:53:

mark farina isn't techno, get a clue.

Well, see i rather stay home or go out with friends not necesarrily to a club. See you might want to spend your money in drugs and dance to crappy music, while i rather save the money, buy quality records that will actually make a goddam difference.

haha, mark farina was playing jazzy acid house before any of your favorite DJs knew what a track was. Hes the author of the mushroom jazz series which are some of the most progressive thinking music out there. Apparently you know nothing about him so i don't know how you could have any credibility on the subject just by listening to one EM with josh wink.

diggerz i dont wanna start shit, but plz dont knock my music...

house is the shizznit

besides its all subjective

JUST FKN QUIT IT

Posted by winston on Jul-29-2006 17:30:

yeah, you're right. It's all about taste, everyone has their own. I know very little of Mark Farina and therefore i shouldn't have spokenin the first place. Im just directed towards a completely different spectrum in dance music, not better nor worse. I shouldn't have stereotyped in the first place with the "jet set- gay crowd", but what the hell i usually speak what i think, sometimes it isn't pretty.

FYI, timeslots for tonight:

Mark Farina : 12:30-4:00
Larry Granite : 10:00-12:30

Then what are you doing listening to electronic music?

(FYI: Mark Farina plays jazz, stupid. I guess that's too intelligent for you?)

I didn't know there was a "discussion about what kind of music is better between two people, both of whom I find to be inferior beings" option in search.

...go away. No one's stopping you from looping your "hottest hits of '94" playlist, or even from keeping your nostalgically elitist BS in MD.
