Artist Bio
The story started around 1997 when Piet Bervoets and Benno de Goeij met each other at a party. Piet already was into music and DJ'ing and had his own studio at the time. This sounded very interesting to Benno, who had no experience at all in producing. Benno already had a perfect ear for good melodies, due to his classical musical background by playing the piano and the keyboard. They decided to cooperate and the first releases as Pedro & Benno soon followed. After many successes under different artist name's, the name Rank 1 was born in 1998, as a joke. They thought it would be nice to see this name at a number 1 position! But the joke became reality when 'Airwave' hit numerous charts at that position.

After this they had many successes like their remix of Cygnus X's 'Superstring' , the Sensation theme of 2000. Their next single 'Such Is Life' became next years Sensation anthem, was released in July 2001 and climbed the charts with the speed of light. The album Symsonic, on which Piet and Benno demonstrated their variety, is not just an album for the dancefloor but one to listen to at home as well. Also a DVD with their live performance at Trance Energy 2002 is included along with their video's. Soon after this release their single 'Awakening' hit the European charts.

The year 2003 was a busy year for them. Breathing was re-released, it was an updated version of Airwave, with a breakbeat remix. Afterwards they spent 6 months building their new studio's which can be viewed on the webcam! They also started a side-project for a friend: 'MAC J'.

Nowadays the guys are working on a their second album. Rank 1 has a very tight schedule. In the weekends Piet is travelling around the world for the Rank 1 DJ-sets. Meanwhile Benno is creating new sounds. So when they meet up during the week they have lots inspiration for new records to come!

Coming in to Vancouver from Monday to Thursday before going home to Toronto so I'll be checking this one out. Would much rather see ATB (one of my favs) but schedule does not permit

Would love to meet fellow TAs so anyone coming out hit me up!

Is Plaza Club downtown? Anyone suggest anything else cool to do in Vancouver? Mostly downtown as that's where I'll be and no car.

Flyer says Beatstreet, Boomtown, Remix, Zulu Records, UFO. Are these places downtown?

I'll be driving up from Seattle for this 1. Hopefully the traffic won't be too bad on a Wed.

got some tickets at boomtown yesterday

the plaza is in downtown

as far as i know, beatstreet and boomtown are in downtown, others i dont know

places to check out? granville has lots of bars, pubs, clubs
there's stanley park on the most west end, english bay beach in the same area. robson street with lots of shops. vancouver is kinda weird in a sense there arent many particular things to see, you just kinda see it. granville island is neat, has bunch of little crafts shops, market, improv theater, which is quite good. you can take a water taxi i think they call them from nearby denmann and davie, or you can take a cab. if you go up to the north point of downtown, the marina has a nice view of north vancouver.

hope the weather holds for you chris

maybe if some people are up for it, we can do a meet up before hand

thanks for the info! i actually rode a bicycle to grouse mountain yesterday. that waspretty tough... did not think i would make it. so i'm a little sore today. thinking of going to the aquarium now. not many options since it's raining.

will definitely try to meet up with some of you guys tonight!

oh yeah, i forgot to mention the grouse grind
its friggin tough
but feels great when you finish it

look for a very drunk and hyper guy in either a tiesto shirt or a shirt from one of them big parties like godskitchen, that's naz (tiesto_messia), he'll be with other TAs

or if you make it to the pub, look for a very very sick stephan (ktracid) hehe
